I was watching the Hingis-Clisters match last night. It was 4-0 in the first and I went to sleep, thinking Hingis was overmatched. She ended up winning the second set and losing 6-4 in the third.
She'll be back in the top 10 in no time. If she could get a little more oomph on her serve, she'd be a real threat in most of the majors.
During the Grosjean-Kiefer men's match Grosjean hit a drop shot, and Keifer barely got to it, popping the ball above Grosjean's head for an easy putaway. Kiefer tosses his racket sideways as Grosjean is swinging at the ball. Grosjean put the ball in the net, and the racket lands off the court, but on Grosjean's side of the net. Grosjean appeals for a 'hindrance' ruling, and Kiefer puts his hands up, giving the innocent look. The pathetic chair umpire rules the point for Kiefer, saying that Grosjean struck the ball before Kiefer threw the racket. Grosjean calmly asks for the tournament referee, who comes out, listens to the umpire's version of the story (which was inaccurate because the racket was in the air, right in front of Grosjean's vision before he hit the ball), and sticks with the umpire's ruling.
[sarcasm] It wasn't a key point or anything. [sarcasm/] The ruling made it duece, instead of ending the game to make it 6-6 in the 5th set. Fortunately, Grosjean held serve to extend the match. Keifer's bad karma will hopefully follow him forever. What an ass-wipe. All of the commentators that were former players were saying that Keifer should have conceded the point after tossing his racket.
Hopefully Federer cleans the guys clock.
