TenneCheat VolunTears (but..but..but.. we're good at baseball)

I was gonna crack on how Tennessee fan might not be especially thrilled with a Gundy led defense which had the following total defense rankings back to 2012:

2017 75
2016 106
2015 90
2014 94
2013 60
2012 93

But, then, I saw that UT was ranked:

2017 86
2016 107
2015 45
2014 32
2013 63
2012 103

So. I suppose they're pretty used to bad defense.

Re: Gundy played college football at Oklahoma State, where he played quarterback from 1986 to 1989.

Mike Gundy signs new, five-year contract with Oklahoma State
June 13, 2017
Oklahoma State announced Tuesday football coach Mike Gundy has signed a five-year contract extension with the school that will pay him $4.2 million this year followed by a $125,000 raise each year afterward.

Angling for a raise...

2. more money for his assistants

3. Some better football facilities at OSU

or all three.

I’d be shocked if Gundy took the job. UT would have to pay him stupid money $7-9 million per year. Can you imagine paying Gundy $7-9 million per year?
They’re going to have to now to try and save face. Of course Gundy has the SI article, which will be interesting in their high horse pantheon

Imagine what Dantonio could do to the SEC...

Mike ought to read the sad tale of Rich Rod to scUM ... a nice story where a guy started treating his alma mater like a bitch, ended up in a poor cultural fit singing "you raise me up" whilst weeping that he wanted to be a Michigan Man to no avail. Of course, he did get paid and he's doing just fine now, after the fact.

His last three years were 7-6, 3-9, and 7-5. Coaches with better records have been fired. Honestly, with the "climate" as it is in college football today, I am kind of surprised he wasn't fired this year. I'd say he's on the "hot seat" next year.
