TenneCheat VolunTears (but..but..but.. we're good at baseball)

Tennessee fans are a funny beast. They have not had a 10 win season since 2007 (and 8! losing seasons since then) yet they still walk around pretending like they are college football royalty.

Wasn't Tennessee really only good during the 1960's or something?

They had Peyton in the 90s, but could never beat Florida with him, thus never dominated the SEC (or even the East) in that era.

They did fluke their way to a title in 98, I guess. But I'd say that any claims of Tennessee being dominant in the 90s is greatly exaggerated.

It was either the 60's or 50's when Tennessee was actually good. Maybe the 40s. All I know is that Tennessee fans have a tendency to say, whenever someone talks shit to them, "You act like Football was invented after 1970...."

That's their best comeback. And that tells the whole story.

They were about a top 15 program in the 90s, dominant is laughable though. They backed into a national title in 1998 and act like that counts for a decade of dominance.

They weren't really dominant in the 50s or 60s either, they did win 3 national titles in those years but they were sandwiched between mediocrity. Looking at their history, their most "dominant" stretches were from 1926-1932 and 1938-1946

I know of a certain fanbase who likes to talk shit about stuff that happened before I was born, as if I'd care.
You know what else was big before I was born? Prohibition. And slavery. And having to walk everywhere because there were no cars. And the Black Plague. And other plagues. And dinosaurs and mass extinction of the dinosaurs.
Guess how much any of those impact the quality of Tennessee's football team in 2022?

Second tier? I'm trying to think of a single metric, athletic, academic, or otherwise, where OSU could conceivably come in second to Tennessee even in the most fevered mind. All I can come up with is wintertime temperatures.

Meth production

EDIT: Of course, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and even Florida would also finish second to Tennessee in meth production.

Maybe WV is TN's only contemporary in that category?

Tennessee has far more coeds cheating on their stepfathers.
