TenneCheat VolunTears (but..but..but.. we're good at baseball)

That UCF program got progressively worse with Heupel lol.

I watched a handful of games and their star QB Gabriel was awful. The offense is basically go super fast and then chuck a throw downfield. Terrible football but Heupel seems like he wants to be the smartest guy in the room. I saw him tripping over himself routinely in that effort. Reminds me of Herman (who should now go to UCF).

Anyway, the last UCF coach worked out for a flailing 90s powerhouse...

IMO, you have to be a special kind of stupid to pick this job. Unless they're just not going to be punished and all their players decide to come back. Otherwise he's going to be set on fire for winning anything less than 9 games next year.
Agreed.
However, I would take $4 mil/year for a few years even with those unrealistic expectations.
I mean, if he makes the team average to semi-respectable, then he'll have a future. If not, he's no worse for financial wear.
Tennessee is not a destination job any more.

It's a certain kind of destination job

I think he really wanted that position tbh. Messed up that they didn’t give it to an alum who actually wanted it, since so few coaches did

From what I've seen, he may have done it to himself too - towards the end of the Pruitt era ( ) apparently Tee Martin wasn't going to position meetings or attending coach sessions. Either way, just more fun for the fire.
