Buck Raider

Rookie
Hello, Bucks!

I think I speak for all Tech fans when I say we are still smarting from the beating we took at the hands of the Buckeyes a few years ago. I'm not sure this squad would fare much better, but the thought of some revenge in the Alamo Bowl would be a nice Christmas Treat.

Bowl committees have a habit of jamming Tech, so Oklahoma State (despite thier humiliation in Lubbock) may just get the nod to play the Bucks. This Tech fan is keeping his fingers crossed for a scarlet......and black victory in San Antonio!

While our defense isn't quite as good as the one that shut down Kingsbury until we sent our bench in late in the fourth quarter, we've improved a lot over than last few games and will be a lot harder to score upon than a lot of your opponents this year.

Almost all Red Raider folks I talked to via theInsiders back when we played the first time were great fans and fun to talk to. One thing is for sure, Tech will test, retest, test again, then keep on testing our secondary. I think it would be a fun game to watch, particularly if we're forced to maintain an open Troy/Ted/Santonio-led offense to try and keep up.

I'm apathetic about Okie State, beyond the "OSU vs. OSU" novelty, it just isn't a big draw for me personally. At least with Tech, there's some relevant history.

I agree. Who can't get excited about a game where Tressel has to be even more aggressive tahn he was in the michigan game offensively.

Imagine 3 reverses to Ginn/Holmes, one of which is a Reverse to Ginn where he has the option to pass.

Also, all of our dreams may come true if they we tech, as I'm not sure we have enough good corners to play man to man againswt Tech's spread offense (and as seen at Purdue, the zone coverage isn't gonna cut it). Who wouldn't want to see Ginn in there, just praying for a ball thrown his way so he can take it to the house?

Last year Texas Tech had a very inappropriate celebration in their bowl game against Navy. Navy is my second favorite team ever since I became a Marines.

Tech scored a 4th Quarter TD and huddled in the endzone and they dropped the ball like a bomb and then fell once the ball hit the ground like it was an explosion.

It was the most appauling thing I have ever witnessed in college football history. As a veteran and Marine I was totally disgusted. Texas Tech is a discrace to college football.

They players from the academies are great students that play football. They are brave young men that will end up defending our country.

One of the Navy players was killed in Iraq in August. I'm sure the players and families of all military academies were impressed by that celebration. Every veteran I talk to that seen that game hates Texas Tech.

I hope we kick the shit out of these classless, Immature, and undiscplined trash. I just hope our players have class when we beat their asses.
That's the kind of celebration you can expect from the Arena League. Fun to watch but it doesn't have a place in college football. That said, I don't think it was inappropriate or disgraceful, just unsportsman like cunduct. I think celebrations like that are direspectful of your opponent. But I'm not offended by it.

If you don't want the other team to celebrate, don't let them score.

I agree with brutus2002. That move was totally classless. I'm pretty sure I saw that celebration on TV or in a movie or something, and that's where they copied it from. Aside from the fact that endzone choreography is completely lame, what Tech did was still awful. The whole reason they did that celebration was because it was against a service academy. If Tech was playing Minnesota or Oregon State or somebody like that, they probably wouldn't even have thought to do it. Trivializing the great sacrifice made by the young men and women of our armed forces is disgusting.

I wrote a pretty long and somewhat thoughtful post on the Navy issue. Then I made the mistake of clicking on something that took me to another page. When I clicked back, my post was no longer populated in the text window. I know there's a setting somewhere that can prevent such a travesty in the future, but that would require constructive focused effort, and I'd much rather just sulk.

As I'm much too bitter now to retype the whole thing, I offer this image as a substitute.

Dude, that sucks. Not to laugh at you, but I recall a moment not too long ago when I did the same thing....and had to re-do an entire offensive preview (blog)....actually, Clarity, you told me then there was something I could do to prevent it from happening again...but I never did. Damn that sucks.

i think the disturbing part was that this was a service academy, not that the celebration was coreographed.
