Should probably not be losing to France. What a choke at the end.

At the point where they should start developing an under-25 team that can play together and wants to be there.

This whole Olympics seems very off, though.

The road to the gold-medal game hasn’t been easy, but the United States men’s basketball team is one victory away from being the last team standing at the Tokyo Olympics. In order to win its fourth straight gold, the U.S. will have to beat the only team that it was defeated by at this year’s Summer Games.

Team USA and France will meet in the gold-medal game Saturday at 11:30 a.m. local time in Tokyo. That means the contest is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. EDT Friday.

Unlike Team USA’s previous games, NBC will provide live TV coverage. A live stream will also be available with Peacock, NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app.

Viewers can watch a full replay of the gold-medal game at NBCOlympics.com when the contest is over.

Holiday, Booker, and Middleton were still in the States for the first France game so this is a deeper team now.

USA should win, but France has 8 NBA players and also beat the US in the Worlds in 2019. They're legit.

One thing I love about FIBA rules - no live ball time outs. You can only call a time out during a dead ball.

Keeps the game moving, and you can't call a bail out TO when the defense has you trapped late in the clock.

The golden streak would have ended if not for Kevin Durant, who capped a sensational Olympics with 29 points on 9-for-18 shooting. While Durant — who joined Carmelo Anthony as the only American men’s players to win three Olympic gold medals — left his defenders flummoxed with fall-away jumpers and hard drives to the hoop, Team USA claimed its revenge for losses in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the Tokyo opener through a collective effort on both sides.

France refused to go away in the gold medal game, leaning heavily on 7-foot-1 center Rudy Gobert, who exploited Team USA’s lack of size with 16 points and eight rebounds. But the French were ultimately undone by 18 turnovers and some poor decision-making down the stretch.

Durant was aided by Jayson Tatum, who came off the bench to score 19 points, including a big three-pointer that gave Team USA some breathing room late in a tight fourth quarter. Starting guards Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday added 11 points apiece in the win.
