Former Ohio State tight end Marcus Baugh gets another chance with the Carolina Panthers
‘Tis the season for drafts, free-agent signings and second chances for NFL hopefuls. Of course the high draft picks are almost a shoe-in to make an NFL squad, others are simply looking for that extra opportunity to show what they can do.
Count former Ohio State tight end Marcus Baugh in that population. You can also count him in the population of those that got the call they’ve longed for. That’s because he has been given another chance to show what he can do with the Carolina Panthers.
Baugh graduated from Ohio State back in 2017, went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, signed on as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders, but was released prior to the start of the season.
He then got another lease on his football life with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football, but that little experiment of a league failed about a month ago, leaving other professional football players out of work.
He is the second former Buckeye to sign on with an NFL team after trying to carve out a niche with the AAF, the other being former defensive tackle
Tracy Sprinkle.
Baugh now has another chance to show an NFL team what he can do, and although it’ll be an uphill battle to make the club as an undrafted free agent, you can bet that’s not going to stop him from trying.
