TE Louis Irizarry (official thread)

thats the same line that Krenzel was running for his life behind the last two years? They might have been drafted individually but as a whole offensive line last year, they underachieved, dont take my word for it, its on tape, it all starts up front.

They were horrible and a few games they didnt show up at all (san diego state, wisconsin)

That same line that was 25-2 and won a National Championship. Sure they could have been better but I don't think they were as awful as some believe.

Hey, I just thought it was ironic you were being critical in a post you said Buckeye fans were too over critical in. No worries.

I would desribe being overly critical as constantly slamming a guy for dropping a few passes in his first year or saying Lydell Ross is horrible, I merely stated what alot of fans believe and thats the fact the offensive line of the past two years underachieved and there were games where they got little or no push, I wasnt blasting them because of a few dropped passes, just was stating the obvious.

being critical is everyones right

Apparently not. Because if you can't see the irony in telling people they can't be critical of Izzy and Ross, then turning around and bashing the O-Line, there's something wrong here.

Was the offensive line the best in college football? Obviously not. Were they the worst? Considering the team only lost two games, I'd say no. Turn it around - everybody has to give Izzy and Ross a break, but the O-Line doesn't get one? TWO LOSSES in two seasons, both of which could be largely attributed to the defense....they must have been doing SOMETHING right. Like I said, it's no secret that they had their share of problems, but they were "underachievers?" I'd say they achieved a whole hell of a lot, and underachievers don't get drafted, either. I also think saying Krenzel was "running for his life" is going a bit far, as well. The only time he was running for his life was when he flat out took too long without making a decision.

I am not being OVERLY CRITICAL OF THE OFFENSIVE LINE, I merely stated that Ross will be better if the O-line isnt knocked back five yards like they were on a regular basis last year, its a fact, we won 3 games without scoring an offensive touchdown (San Diego State, Iowa and Purdue), to me that is underachieving.

I didnt blast the o-line, I made one comment that was true in alot of games, I merely stated that the previous ten posts on this thread were blasting Izzy for dropping a few passes as a true freshman and the fact that Lydell Ross only carried the ball 5 times on Saturday, how can you make a decision on wether he improved or not?

I think the offensive line had some good players but for whatever reason did not play as a unit on a consistent basis, I think that is being fair, not critical. I didnt not say they couldnt block, like a few posters have stated Izzy cant catch or Lydell cant run, to me that is being overly critical.

I ended my post with the following
being critical is everyones right, but lets be sure it is warranted.
I believe it is fair to state that the line had lots of talent but consistently underachieved the last two years, before you bring up the 25-2 record, lets be honest, the majority of those games were won by defense and special teams, especially last year.

To get back to the point, I believe being critical is everyone's right but to judge someone on a few dropped passes in a few games is OVERLY critical, that line was to put it mildly, pathetic on a consistent basis, just look at the numbers, we were like 109th in rushing in the country! Thats terrible, every coach will tell you it starts up front.

Look, I was merely trying to point out the irony in your post. The offensive line play was inconsistent but it was good enough for Clarett. It was good enough to keep Kansas St. off of Krenzel in the Fiesta Bowl, a defensive line that harrassed Jason White in the Big XII Championship. I don't think anyone has been overly hostile towards LI in this thread. I know in my first post I mentioned what a rare dimension he can bring to an offense with his athleticism at the TE position. Let's not act like him catching the ball isn't a concern though. Fumbling was a concern for Eddie George after his freshmen year but last I checked he got that straightened out. We can only hope LI has similar success holding on to the ball and I for one am not doubting he will.

Columbus police say that two OSU football players were arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly trying to rob a man.

Louis Irizarry and Ira Guilford were picked up by OSU police after they allegedly struck a man, knocked him to the ground and then tried to take his wallet.

The alleged incident took place on College Road and West 19th Avenue around 3 a.m.

The two are being held in Franklin County jail and have been charged with robbery. It is unknown whether or not they will be charged with assault.

I think so too 94.

I can even begin to fathom why two kids, with so much going for them, would throw it all away by doing something like this.

On the bright side, we now will have an extra 2 schollies for next year's class.

I agree both should go, but if it turns out Ira was in some type of bystander/wrong place wrong time sort of position..he may see a long suspension.

This should definitely be the end of Izzy though

Still early in this story so its hard to assume without all the facts...even though it seems cut and dry right now
