TE Jeremy Ruckert (New York Jets)

“It means a lot,” Ruckert said of playing for the Buckeyes one final time. “Coach (Ryan) Day has talked a lot about the traditions and expectations to play in the Rose Bowl and all the people who came before you. It was a big decision, and playing in this game, it's the Rose Bowl. And I don't want to leave off with a bad note, as we (lost to Michigan) in the last game. I'm excited to play in the Rose Bowl and I'm excited to play against Utah.”

I just hope he ends the game healthy to be honest.

If he were my son, I'd advise him not to play. There is nothing to gain and everything to lose. Maybe tell him the cautionary tale of Jake Butt then hope for the best and support him whichever way he decides.

I'd argue he has something to gain. His draft stock isn't solidified or particularly high. If he puts up some stats against a top D, he could boost it significantly. Butt already had substantial production and was viewed as a solid 2nd-3rd rounder going into his bowl game. The injury risk is always real, but he has more to gain than guys like Olave and Wilson so it makes more sense to me that he wants to play.

I guess I just give too much credit to the NFL scouts. I envision them watching every minute of film a prospect has to watch and then making a grade. I don't see a competent evaluator being so swayed by one game that he moves a guy way up the board (or the inverse).

I wish the best for him regardless.

I agree with that, but he's never had the chance to be a go-to target so that's one thing he lacks on film. If Day/Wilson give him that chance and he puts up 80+ yards against that D, I think that would open up some eyes.
