TE Jake Ballard (Super Bowl Champion)

He's not the #2 TE. He is one of the top 25 TE in the country according to Scouts, Inc., but the list is in alphabetical order.

They ranked him at TE but he will likely play OT at the next level depending on how much he fills out this year.

Ballard reportedly will receive offers from Ohio State and Michigan this week and says that both are pretty even at this point. He has offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Duke, Michigan State, Boston College, Miami (OH), and Northwestern.

Great work Highstreet. I don't think the coach hid it very well. Ballard is a big tOSU fan, and he seems it could be a very short time before he verbals. Jake may be the prototypical blocking tight end. He can block like a lineman for those short-distance situations, and it appears that he has very soft hands to catch the ball as well. I really like the offer and hope he does become the next guy to wear S&G for teh '06 class.:)

By Duane Long...Jake's mother indicates Jake is ready to get the process over with and will camp at OSU, Michigan and Iowa.

The coach gave his opinions, but it in no way is his perception the know all end all. These student athletes will make their own decisions...

I have it on good authority that the staff will let him play at the position he feels most comfortable. They want Ballard in a big way!

Nevada is calling this one in possibly the next 72 hours....not sure if he's got the normal inside info or if he's just got a hunch.

He also said the coaches recruit these guys for whatever position they want. He said if Ballard for example, wants to come in as a TE, they'll let him.

I live in Springboro and altho I don't know Ballard I can say I sure hear a lot about him.

I would be completely shocked if OSU and UM were 'equal' and lets just say most of his hometown would wonder why he has been leading a secret life in which he is a UM fan.

This kid is a monster and by all reports (I don't want to overstate here...just a handful of first hand accounts) he is a great kid. He made the local paper recently for being the junior class prom king (Prince or some such title)...the picture was interesting...he could have picked up the other members of the junior prom court and put them in his pocket if he wanted to.

From BSB...Wisconsin offered Jake on Monday, and then was followed by Michigan on Tuesday. The OSU staff asked to be kept aware of Jake's offer sheet, and once Michigan offered, OSU did as well. OSU and Michigan are his favorites and he will probably decide on the 24th...
