TE Jake Ballard (Super Bowl Champion)

First let me say as a Panther alum I am proud of Jake's catch yesterday it was awesome. Second let me say his parents should just stay away if that is the luck that is brought when they are not around:tongue2: The last thing that does amaze me the most though. When was the last time we had TE's score 3TD's in a game?

In an article I read this morning (can't remember, maybe Columbus Dispatch) it said this was the first time TE's caught 3 TD's since 2002 vs. NC State.

Edit: That can't be right...did we play them in 2002? I don't think so. Let me get my facts straight.

Edit #2: It was posted in the Note and Quotebook on the O-Zone, and they messed up the year. They must have meant 2003 in the OT game, against NC State. NC State was not one of the 14 teams we downed in 2002.

"I feel it (spring football) was going pretty well up until Tuesday," said Ballard.

"I hurt my hamstring. I hope that I impressed my coaches enough that they know what I can do on the field. I played in the first jersey scrimmage but
I got hurt tuesday jumping for a pass. I think I strained my hamstring so we'll see if I'll be back for the spring game," said Ballard.

Like Ballard, Hartline is hoping to be back in action despite his injury, but isn't going to rush it if his injury doesn't permit it.

"I've had a little hamstring problem," said Hartline.
"We're just going to keep it safe. Kirk, Beanie, Rehring was today and Skinner, we're dinged up. We'll play through it," Hartline said.

Couldn't Watch: Tight end Jake Ballard played a little basketball in high school. As a matter of fact, Ballard was good enough to have had interest as a basketball player from several Big Ten schools but decided togo the football route instead. Ballard also has a connection to this year's OSU basketball team. He has had a series of classes with the freshman members of OSU's basketball team.

"This is the first quarter I'm not in any of their classes," said Ballard.
"Me and Mike (Conley) and Greg (Oden) have been in three or four classes together, so I'm pretty good friends with those guys.

Cont'd ...

Lydell Sargeant (#10) had a tough day... he's the one in the pic with Ballard, he's the one Boone blocked on Hartline's TD screen... and he's the one Beenie just absolutely blasted on an outside run later in the game... I don't think he had a lot of fun yesterday
