TE Gee Scott Jr. (Official Thread)

I have to say... given his size and speed combined with his hands he just may be the most talented of all our 2020 recruits.

His ability to make 1 handed catches is insane.

I go back and forth between who will be best between the 4 2020 kids but I think Gee has a really good argument.
I've thought this for a while. I really wanted to get to see Fleming in person to figure out how a kid from nowhere PA in a super run heavy offense could be the #1 WR. I hope I'm wrong on him.

One of the first things that came back to me once we got our season back was the remembrance of these stud WRs. Of course I want to see Fields and Olave and Wilson......but I'm really stoked to see these new kids and if they really are this good.

Same here, I'm just glad we have all 4 and get to have the debate, but it'll be fun to see it play out. Scott may be the most complete player now and that 1 hand grab was ridiculous. He is just so physically dominant and impressive, and came in pretty polished on his routes. If he picks up the blocking scheme, he's going to play a lot this year I would expect.

Such a big, physical receiver! Hard worker and has all the skills. Under-rated? Yep! Any other year he would be a 5 star.
I will say this about Gee... he works harder than any of the new kids if you saw all of the articles about his workouts. So again I wouldnt be shocked to see him be the most productive of the WRs in 2020. The fact that JSN beat Scott by a day with the black stripe shows just how talented that room is.

I honestly cannot believe Scott and Flemming are freshman with how developed they are physically. We are in the golden age of OSU football and have been since 2002 really.

5. WR Gee Scott Jr.

Gee Scott Jr. is a mature young man who was ready for the transition to big-time college football when he arrived at Ohio State. He lost his black stripe early, an indication of how well he has done. I look for him to be one of three true freshman wide receivers who see the field this season.

SACRIFICES MADE. A few days ago, Ryan Day said that some coaches aren't even sleeping at their own homes for fear of catching the virus and spreading the virus within the program, and they aren't the only ones making that kind of sacrifice.

I'll tell you what, these sacrifices are going to feel extremely worth it when they're rewarded with a natty after all is said and done.

That settles it, the picture of Gee Scott Sr and Jr embracing on the field at Hard Rock Stadium is officially my favorite photo of the season, even though we're nearly 3 months away from JWins taking that picture.

Dude that is absolutely hilarious. How isn’t that making some light news?

RYAN DAY: ON YOUNG RECEIVERS BLOCKING
  • "They have to."
  • Day said he realizes that's not something you do at 7-on-7 camps or really in high school, but you have to learn to do it if you want to see the field at Ohio State.
  • "That's something you have to do at Ohio State."

ARE WE SURE THAT'S A RECEIVER? A common criticism of freshman receivers is that they aren't big or physical enough for the college game right away.

That's uh, not going to be a problem for Gee Scott.

Prayers up for the first DB that decides bump-and-run against him is a good idea.

Just sayin': Gee Scott is the sleeper among the 4 freshman WRs. Don't count him out, his blocking alone will get him on the field.

guys like that on the roster are the temptation for Fields to stay another year, if and only if, he's ranked outside the Top 5 for the draft. #1 pick in the draft this year is almost a lock to be Lawrence so I wonder what that thought process would be like. Of course, we're getting way ahead of ourselves but having a guy like Gee Scott Jr on the outside and then all of his classmates returning at that position, might as well be next level anyway.

Just sayin': The second or third guy picked in the draft doesn't do all that bad, i.e.

Burrow = $36.0M
Young = $34.6M
Okudah = $33.5M

He might be a sleeper to a lot of the country and even to some Buckeye fans, but I seriously doubt he's a sleeper to anyone on Buckeye Planet. This guy's work ethic reminds me of Chris Spielman, but they couldn't be more different, personality-wise. I liked Spielman's intensity, but I like Gee's quiet confidence* even more. And he's got one of the best back-stories ever.

You don't have to be from Ohio to be Born to Be a Buckeye (B2BaB)

* - Quiet Confidence with a qualifier: His confidence in his own ability is of the quiet variety. He still clearly has the ability to be a vocal leader, but his message to his teammates in all the videos I've seen was about "We" and "Us".

Love this kid already and he hasn't played a snap. True Buckeye and amazing work ethic. With his talent, there's just no way that doesn't culminate into an amazing career in Columbus. So ready to kick this off Saturday!
