We don’t do this for NW for Iowa for Wisconsin for Minnesota etc.

We refuse to play this way against anyone else but that POS team up north.

Also, yes I think Ryan will not get fired unless we get embarrassed in the first round. Like mentioned if he’s here next year he has got to stop talking about toughness and “whoever wins the rushing battle”. Go play to your strengths Ryan and if that means throwing the ball every play then do it.

Like it was mentioned. Who cares how you win if you actually win by 30.

i have to keep reminding myself that day is still a relatively “green” head coach. i think he is learning… we can debate whether the head coaching job at ohio state is the best place for him to make mistakes and learn. but i think he’s still trying to figure out his identity.

and, with the exception of the game, that identity has evolved over the last few years.

has he evolved as quickly as all of us would want? probably not.

has he evolved in the right direction? i think, generally, yes.

will he continue to evolve? probably the more adversity, the more he will evolve.

he’s probably learning all the stuff that coaching legends learned outside the spotlight and probably at smaller programs. so, tough for him, for sure. what i wonder is whether he will crack (if he hasn’t already). but, he gets $10 million in his bank account to deal with that, so my heart’s not bleeding for him.

I thought he proved on Saturday that he hasn’t learned anything. Like, lose a shot at a national title because you can’t make a FG, you’d think he’d learn to go sign an elite kicker. But nope. Michigan did but not Day. You’d think after the way he coached against Georgia vs. the way he coached against Michigan 2 years ago would’ve taught him that he needs to open it up and play to win. Nope. He reverted to the same scared play calling in The Game that has become his calling card. If he hasn’t learned by now I don’t think he ever will. Capable students learn by now. Day hasn’t learned shit and he’s failing in his responsibilities to his players.

Imo he either needs to win a title or at least come damn close in the title game to earn another shot. Failing that, I think OSU should move in a new direction.

I lost faith in Day awhile ago. I believe I know how this movie ends. But I’m a realist and of course he can’t be fired right now. I have him on a performance plan and there are benchmarks he can meet to retain his job. I don’t know whether his actual boss has the same plan in mind or if anything about his performance requirements have been communicated to him. (Frankly I have huge doubts about his current boss.) But Day has failed to achieve the main goals of his job for too long already and the first two goals, to beat your rival and win the conference, are already gone this year when they’ve never been more easily attained. Day just suffered the biggest upset loss in the history of the rivalry. He needs to either rebound with a major statement or suffer the consequences. We’re not doing him any favors if we teach him that such failings can be overlooked.

If Day coaches the playoff like he did against Georgia after the 2021 season I think we have a chance, but in the end we will need some breaks to go our way, seems like we only have negative breaks in the big ones recently.

MHjr getting KOed and targeting reversed against Georgia

The fucking targeting that bailed Clemson out in 2019 along with the missed what shoulda been a fumble for a TD

Bama was likely going to win in 2020 anyway but Sermon going down for the game on the first drive killed us.

Settling for too many FGs also cost us vs Clemson and UGA in those games, play for fucking TDs please. Especially with this kicking unit.

like i said in my post… the game seems to be an exception for him.

he still seems stuck back in the sisyphean trauma of the 2021 game. that seems to be his bill murray-esque ground hog’s day.
