Sure it does I see how bad it hurts him.

However, for three years now we go into the game tentative and afraid. We need to go in swinging hard and hit them fast. We need to play OUR GAME.

Their game is slow, run first, and tough defense. Our game normally has been play fast, throw the ball and play suffocating defense.

Especially in 2021-2023 it was a clash of styles and we tried to do things their way. Why? Fucking why? We do this all the time as well. We do it against Penn State, did it for Nebraska, and did it for Oregon.

Stop playing the other teams style of play. Play your game and the hell with needing to prove anything. This is one big game of chicken and IMO the one who has to adjust to play the other teams style is behind the 8 ball.

What we should’ve done was realized our WR talent gap and utilized that to the tune of 300+ passing yards. We also should’ve gone up tempo. All damn game I’m saying out loud “go pick up the pace. Go hurry up”. If taking advantage of your style means 0 yards rushing who cares. The point is to score and if you aren’t scoring then who cares about balance.
Agreed with everything here, I was screaming it all game. Just two additional things that supplement your overall points. Will Johnson was out of the game, making the disparity of their DBs vs our WRs even greater and we didn't even try to exploit that, wtf. Second, our OL is much better in pass protection than run blocking, so play to your strength there. Instead of going on an air raid, we run it up the gut at their best defensive players. I keep seeing "coaching malpractice" and I couldn't agree more.

I know every regular poster on here has watched every game and then replayed some of them. What we did in The Game was literally the polar opposite of our strengths and the coaches should have damn well known that. Instead they moronically tried to be tough guys running the ball instead of throwing it to open up the run later on. I usually try to be positive but I can't spin this one bit. Can we just have a substitute HC for The Game and sub in UFM or Tress?

Two days after this inexplicable loss it has become clear, in my opinion, the game plan was Day's and Chip had not much input. Kelly would have made more common sense decisions. Scum has lived in Ryan's head since '21 with the 'not tough' talk. If those who are saying he was just trying to prove a toughness point (above just making adjustments to win) with the game plan are correct, that is inexcusable and insane. He might be certifiably insane at this point.

I don't think it's the Buckeyes who have an "_ichigan problem." Ryan Day is the one with that problem, and OSU has a Ryan Day problem. I give the good guys 0% chance of winning The Game next year if he sticks around, and I know that's not shocking to anyone. I just don't want to see Chip go if Ryan does.

I don’t agree with Klatt much but I agree 10000000% with him here.

The reason why we continue to lose has nothing to do with how physical we are. Just shut the fuck up about that Ohio State. It’s football and you’re one of the best 3-5 schools at it so clearly you’re tough enough.

The reason we continue to lose is it’s a clash of styles and we continue to play on their terms. TCUN wants to get us in a phone booth and we oblige them every single time. No what we should do is force them to play our game. Wide open, press the pace, and you better keep scoring TCUN or you’ll fall behind.

Think back on 2018 and 2019. We ripped them to shreds and it’s because we forced TCUN to play our game. Stop playing their game Ryan and take advantage of the 5 star NFL players at the WR position.

I'd have argued against it until yesterday, but Day is obsessed with beating them at their game. I've come to the conclusion that he should stay for another year (barring maybe a disaster in the cfp), but the people in a position to get into his head have to turn that mindset around. Hey, everybody loves Woody ball, but it's out of style for a reason. Call us soft all you want, but if we play basketball on grass and beat you by 30, it's a hell of a lot better than what I watched on Saturday.

I don't necessarily have a problem with running, but running right into the fucking only strength they have on defense almost every time is just bad coaching.

Where are the outside quick runs? Where's those shovel "pass" runs that we've burnt them with in the past before this "toughness" obsession.

Yeah Klatt is hit or miss for me but he's 100% on point here.
