He took a shit team to the NFC championship game. He has plenty of experience. He would instantly change the negative aura surrounding the program. Maybe he doesn't need to be here a decade.
Let him come in, flip a few 5☆ lineman, then use Days ridiculous recruiting to win a couple ships and bounce back to the NFL when Tomlin retires and hire Fickel who has since put wisky in the playoff a couple years in a row.
NFL is an entirely different animal…just ask Urban.

He didn’t like recruiting when he was here the first time. What makes anyone think that would change now?

Yeah, I know, not allowed to state the facts, 'they' want to burn you at the stake over stating glaring facts.

But go look now, the leaders of the site are saying the things others were saying all along, things some got zapped for, in the now closed game thread.

Maybe let the others state the glaring facts without being elitist pricks fragile bitches?
We created this game thread for a reason, so that people like you could say all sorts of nasty things about the team that you allegedly root for. There were very few things that you could have said in this thread that would get you banned. Unfortunately for you, calling us "fragile bitches" was one of those things. See you in three days if you'd care to come back. If not, we're not exactly going to miss you.

I live in SC. I would rather see the Gamecocks in the playoffs than this team I watched today! SC would hammer this team. Just calling it like I see it. Until we stop spending the NIL money on receivers and QBs, and start spending on the line, I don’t care if this team wins another game. Give me 22 guys from Ohio when we play TTUN. Tressel and Meyer knew how to get the job done. Day is another Cooper!!!

It's Ohio State. They could get Bill Belichik and Nick Saban on the same staff if they wanted to. It's not like the Athletic Department is hurting for money.
Unless big time boosters step up, and most of ours aren't football donors, money is kind of an issue. We have revenue sharing coming up along with Carter's pledge to continue to keep all 36 sports with their scholarships intact. We're not strapped, but we're not going out and paying 15M for a coach and 5M for coordinators.

The one realistic can't miss option out there is Lanning if Uncle Phil kacks out.

How many fights has Sparty, or Penn State or Fresno State or Ohio State been in with other teams other than tcun. Yet, it's always the other guy's fault. There is something so dysfunctional about the culture of that place. You don't see it at the other top publics, Berkeley or UCLA or UVA or Georgia Tech..only tcun. You don't see it at the other football bluebloods...only tcun. It's unique, and it's toxic.
Who cares they won

Does Ohio State still got a chance in this game or nah?

The end of the Ryan Day era will unmask several issues inherent with the current environment at Ohio State. It has been a creeping thing since the end of the Urban era, really.

The environment is too corporate. So long as it's going well, everything is great. When that first real bump hits, when the talent level alone can't carry the day, it gets rocky to the point of not being able to settle down and just play. Expectations are one thing but it's deeper than that.

Tressel teams had that fire in them but it was business as usual on gameday. Urban's teams did and they never ever talked about how they had it. Maybe they would end up losing, but the fight was always there except in certain cases.

Day's teams talk about it, but you only see it in spurts. It's like the focus is always on "toughness" and "passion" and "fire" to the point where they don't develop the actual acuity for those things - that they just show up when you need them. That's not how it works. Ever. You either have it or you don't.

This team doesn't. Really the end of the Urban era didn't have all that fire part either but they were so talented and tough it, it carried them through for the most part. They would have some of those odd, flat, nothing works type games.

Day hasn't had those games for the most part, and if his team did, like say, nebraska, they still found a way to win it. Until today. In a game that you shouldn't be flat or not having things that don't work. They didn't find a way to win the game, they found ways to lose it.

It was his first loss to an unranked team. That shows two things: Remarkable consistency and remarkable consistency.

Remarkable consistency in that his teams are always able to bring enough to the table to beat all of the clearly inferior teams, usually handily and without much fanfare.

Remarkable consistency in that his teams are always good enough (usually) to hang with anyone on the field, but they always lack that extra push at the end of to get the job done.

Today is just a microcosm of an environment (I think it exists in the basketball program too to a certain extent) where, in the end, it lacks any type of edge. Killer instinct. Whatever you want to call it - this group lacks it.

And Booger McFarland can go fuck himself.

Heart breaks for the seniors. Especially on defense. They gave it their all. It wasn't a question of effort. Just a fucked up vibe and mental block after the last 3 years.

I really like Day. Great guy, great coach. He's someone you want recruiting and running a program. Unfortunately I don't think anything less than a total reset is going to fix whatever is fucked mentally with him and the team.

I think in the end what we’re going to find out is that the Michigan game is a lot less important to the administration than it is to the (older) fans
To me, Michigan has NEVER mattered more than it has after Harbaugh and cheating and Ono and Mullings. I have never hated them more.

I was kind of take the Bucks or leave them in college. I lived overseas in the 90s, and didn't really get wrapped up in the Cooper years. I returned to Columbus for a couple of years and then Chicago for the last 20 Those years made it easy to take The Game casually. Right now, it's never meant more and I've never hated them more.
