Of the three schools announced by his father -- Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State -- OSU and Penn State seem to have the biggest advantage in terms of lack of depth.
Penn State
Darryl Clark, RS-Sr.
Pat Devlin, RS-Jr.
Curtis Drake, Fr.
Penn State is all in on Kevin Newsome, and Kevin is
NOT going to VT. PSU won't be all over Tajh Boyd, not until PSU knows for certain what is going on with Newsome, and IMHO we won't be needing Tajh's services.
Also Curtis Drake is not a QB at the collegiate level, it would be an accomplishment if he were a legit 5'11/5'10.5 - 170 pounds....he'll probably be a Norwood type for us in the slot, maybe even some PT as a true FR. We've got nothing but trees left for WRs after the Rose Bowl, it'll be either Curtis Drake or 5'7.5/5'7 155 true freshmen Devon Smith getting action.
Our 3 for '09 would be RS SR Daryll Clark, RS JR Pat Devlin & RS FR
walk-on Matt McGloin. McGloin is maybe 6'1 185 pounds, not a very strong kid and
not a big arm. He has accuracy, knowledge, timing, the threat of awareness in the pocket,
some mobility in and out of the pocket...goes without saying that we can't have 2 QBs go down at the same time during the '09 season. :(

All of that being said, Curtis Drake leads the states top scoring offense and will have a showdown with a legit '10 collegiate QB prospect in Lancaster Catholic's 6'3 185 Kyle Smith, Friday night (Dec. 5th) at 7:00. Smith is more of a pro-style type but he can maneuver in the pocket and scramble some, has visited UM & ND unofficially..we are unlikely to be involved. '10 PA QB Paul Jones from Sto-Rox is where we're at, and he has been to PSU many times.
