Some may say this was foretold ...

I think the refs blew the call on that shift.

I also would have liked to see a replay on the third down spot. I think he was on his butt with the ball short before he fell across the yellow line, but on third down they have to show a close spot again.

These refs are idiots. The spot on the third down run was horrible; the guy had the first down.
I agree with that, but the flag was right on 4th and 1

If you're gonna go for it on 4th down, man up and play ball. Don't do this rinkie dink shift bullshit. Man up.. play ball, this is football for fucks' sake, not knitting.

Edit: Not saying you, tillIdie, have said anything to the contrary on the flag issue.

LSU got called for a similar thing last year, simulating a snap, basically.

EDIT: When I say LSU, I don't mean the Championship game.... actually I think it was against Bama

If the rule has something like "can't move abruptly", then they want to prevent a team from doing what Utah did. They did shift quickly with the intent of tricking Bama into jumping offsides.

i thought he had the first. i also thought the refs blew the call...

but they finally called holding on the Tide. i counted 4 plays in a row with blatant holding... and another hold on the Wilson scramble...
