Sugar Bowl: Utah 31, Alabama 17 (Final)

It's an interesting debate... I do have an issue with the fact that only 6 conferences are really eligible for a national title, and I would love to see the AP take a stand and award a mid-major the AP NC but it won't happen. Anyone who watched tonights game knows it wasn't really an upset, Utah was the better team tonight, they beat them in ever aspect of the game, but the reality is that the argument for talent played is there and will be held against them. It's a good story, I would love to see a system where these guys get a legitimate shot at a national title, but the BCS will do everything to prevent it. Right now the argument is going to be "Come to a real conference, you didn't schedule anyone" But the reality is when they made that OOC schedule they thought they were going to be in for a hell ride, scUM had a horrible year, and Oregon state was decent, but people are saying "they didn't really wake up til the 4th game of the season"

The real question is would Utah have more legs to stand on if they had defeated a 9 win Michigan team? And did everyone forget that had it not been for a nightmare against the Ducks that the Beavers would have gone to the Rose Bowl?

Either way, debate it all you want, Utah got a Sugar Bowl trophy and will get to say they went undefeated and beat an Alabama team who was ranked #1 for a large portion of the season.

Take it for what it's worth.

I bet you win all your debates.

There's not much to say when somebody is throwing Miami around as a top notch program anymore.

I love it.
It may actually quiet some of these Bama fans for an hour or so (but I seriously doubt that).

Yeah a loss makes the SEC look bad, but we compete with Bama for too many athletes for me to shed any tears over them losing. I don't want them rednecks to have anything to puff out their chests about.
Great season, but they just got bitch slapped by a mid major on National TV and I think it's [censored]ing hilarious.

My views exactly. It's just too much fun to watch Bama fans lose than to worry about the SEC's reputation taking a hit. I give Utah players all the credit, they came out to play from the beginning and they were a ton of fun to watch.

Loss to Louisiana-Monroe first season, Utah second season, let's see what late season collapse Saban cooks up next year :)

Also hopefully this solidifies Rueben Randle choosing LSU.

When 7 of 12 games are against bottom feeders with losing records or lower division teams, it's hard to get evaluate what undefeated" really means.

I mean, this is a team that beat TSUN only by 2 points and Alabama had its own SOS issues.
