... for the large group of ohio state fans, would you agree that we have a strong defensive line but not great depth? that rolle is a player but a tad undersized and teams can be effective running right at him. getting old homan in space can be his weakness. generally speaking we also have a depleted secondary and the safeties are relatively average with the substantial injuries we have back there.

No, I think our D-line is pretty average overall (if you're talking Top-10 teams, that is). I think defensive backfield is our true strength - great coverage given relatively little in the way of a pass rush. Our corners and safeties have been very good tacklers, also. And our linebackers have been excellent tacklers. Where we were hurt the most was by Wisconsin and their massive O-line; I'm truly concerned about the Hogs' rushing attack more than their passing, honestly. Hogs have an excellent O-line, as do most SEC teams.

i like our starters though we do not have much depth beyond those guys. or at least in my view. relatively young.

as far as the dbs, i agree at the corner position. however we have been decimated by injury at the safety, id expect nickel with a star all day against the hogs. that means three safeties. while i agree they have done a good job tackling, as an opposing coach id look to those two areas to exploit this ohio state team. petrino likely wont go picking on torrence, and i wouldnt be surprised as i mentioned before to try and get some mismatches out of the backfield on a guy like homan.

the interesting thing is imo seemingly that both teams defensive weaknesses match up with the opposing teams offensive strengths.

That's something I'm seeing too.

And to take it a step farther, it's strength vs. strength (our offense vs. your defense) and weakness vs. weakness - relatively speaking (your offense vs. our defense).

And even more on this train of thought is that while your aggregate statistical ranking is higher than ours, our strength of schedule is higher than yours

And since we are both kinda sucky at kickoff coverage...

It's kind of crazy how it all lines up.

This looks like a pick 'em to me.

Typical, I don't know what I was thinking coming on here. Degrade my selections and compliments of your team and neglect to post any stats or compliments in return. Very classy. I've already stated more positive things about OSU than I have for my own team and yet I'm the one that's being selective? Bit of advice, not every hog fan that may come on here is doing it to start something. And not every hog fan that may come on here saying positive things about OSU isn't just saying them to cover up so-called selective stats in favor of ARK. If you can't take a compliment then don't be upset when you stop getting them. Every positive thing I said about your team has been overlooked. Best D in the country? One of the best QB's and best offenses in the nation? Remember? One of the top tier college football teams? None of that ring a bell? Funny how ppl focus on what they don't agree with and lose sight of compliments. Only thing is that you can't disagree with stats.

Arkansas can put three very good, very fast receivers on the field at once. They all have very good to excellent hands and can all run after the catch.

And we might have the best TE in college this year. One of the top 3 for sure.

You didn't lose to the #4 team, you lost to the #18 team at the time, don't try to butter it up. And you didn't even play anyone in the top 10 all year. We beat #5 when they were #5. Not to mention our strength of schedule was ranked 6th nationaly and still managed 10-2. We lost to the defending champs by 4, and to AUB who is going to the title game and beat #5 LSU. You lost to #18 Wisconsin and played no one in the top 10. I'm not gonna make excuses for our perrformance against AUB like you did for your performance against Wisconsin. We simply got beat, yet you neglected to mention that we scored 43 on AUB, the most they allowed all year.

I'm so tired of seeing this. Tell me about Tennessee Tech? You know, the 79th rated offense in FCS 9formerly known as Division 1AA) football. The same Tennessee that ranked (get this) 104th in total defense in FCS. How do you factor that into SOS? It's like Eastern Michigan -1000.

Tell me about feasting on the SEC East which was borderline pathetic this season. The SEC west may have so many ranked teams because, just because, they pretty much each had a guaranteed two wins against the SEC East.

Not impressed, but it would be noteworthy, not very but somewhat. You have to include the rankings at the time, because they are just that, the rankings. I was going by his logic. But ARK beating #5LSU in the last week of the season is more noteworthy than losing to the then #18 team that is now the #4 team.

No, you don't and it's simply stupid to do so. The end of season rankings should always be used when available because they reflect the body of work and the true worth of the season. If I had a 12 year old even he would understand that.
