Leaning towards going. Trying to get an idea on where to stay. Downtown looks like around $250/night afer parking is factored in. If you were to stay a little farther out and drive into downtown, where's the best place to stay? I'm not at all familiar with NOLA.
There are several hotels around the airport that are ~10 minutes from downtown. You could stay out there for a lot less and drive downtown or get a cab.

Id offer to let everyone stay with me at my inlaws house in Baton Rouge, but it is only a two bedroom home! It might get a bit tight! But whet the hell, all Buckeyes are family!:osu::oh:
p.s. keep your hands off my tickets and nobody gets hurt!

How's the Metairie area? Easy drive or cab down to the festivities?

Alot of the vehicle traffic in the French Quarter/ Superdome area gets shut down, made one way or otherwise screwed up... If you plan on taking a cab from Metairie or anywhere else, come EARLY.... By early, I mean at least 5 hours before kickoff.... Once they start shutting down the streets, it is tough and expensive to get downtown.

Also, the cabs there are a flat rate from the airport to downtown (I think it's 35.00 each way)... So although it will be a pain in the @ss, you are better off taking a cab to the airport to get the flat rate down town...because that same cab ride from a hotel across the street from the airport could cost you 50 bucks.

Also, when selecting a hotel downtown... Yes, it is expensive.. but you need to factor in you won't be paying 70 bucks plus tip round trip for a cab ride.

The same goes for a rental car... If you are flying in, save your money and just take a cab. All the downtown hotels will charge you 35+ a night to park a rental car you will never use... everything in the FQ is walking distance.

Any opinions on the Doubletree?

I had some friends burn Hilton points there last year.... they said the walls were thin and their room smelled like smoke....

That being said, the location is awesome! Right on the edge of the FQ and near the casino too!

If you are getting a good rate, you should be fine.
