Rather than having top seed Alabama play closer to home in New Orleans, the CFP chose to place the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl. The game was moved from Pasadena, California, to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, because of the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Southern California, along with the inability for players' and coaches' families to attend because of state restrictions during the pandemic.
Barta said the decision was made to reward No. 1 Alabama with the opportunity to play in front of the most fans possible since only 3,000 fans will be allowed in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium vs. 16,500 at Cowboys Stadium.
I don't like it being shared, but not sure that's bulletin board material. It's just what every coach says to get his guys fired up.
You can be sure Dabo is going to show that to his team.
From your mouth to God’s ears.Buckeyes pull away late in the fourth riding Sermon, on the back of a dominant performance by the interior defensive line
This the type of positivity I like. Gimme more!1. I don’t think comparing 2020 to 2019 OSU is even fair.....6 games vs 13, prior to CFP against Clemson just isn’t fair. The lack of ability to have contact practices, with regular starters, and constant moving pieces is the basis for giving these guys a little Grace here.
That said, our LB play has absolutely improved. Getting Browning back will be a nice bump for CFP. Justin Hilliard is playing great. Pete Warner and Tuf Borland have been very good.
I’d also say, while in totality, our defensive line is not as good without Chase Young, it’s also nice teams are willing to hold the ball in the pocket longer. We have guys who can get home, and our DT’s have been great. I’d rather have Chase than not, but it’s also nice to see QB’s hold the ball longer this year.
2. I think our offensive line has been extremely resilient and probably slightly better IMO. I still think RB was better last year, but give our O-line credit for gelling 6 games into season and putting it together, often with a plug and play approach.
3. Fields is still an amazing player and we owe a debt of gratitude to him. While he hasn’t been as sharp as 2019, his talent still jumps off the screen. Thankfully we get Olave back for CFP.
4. The best thing about Olave being back is it lets Wilson slide back to slot receiver where he’s lethal. Put an NFL nickel back on Wilson, and my money is still on Wilson. It’s MASSIVE.
5. I love the extra confidence we now have in Sermon. I also like our playcalling can work with both Sermon and Master. Last year, when Teague was in game, our playbook was limited. It was a terrible tell. This year, whether Teague or Sermon is in game, I don’t think Clemson can dial in on what is coming.
5. I think our secondary is improving. It’s hard to erase the poor Proctor angles from your brain, but man he comes up with some crazy athletic plays. While Lawrence’s running ability is a huge concern (Clemson leans on it in big games) I like Proctor a lot in coverage. Our secondary is not as good as 2019, but it’s starting to gel. We’ll see....
6. Lawrence gashed us with his feet last year (I don’t think we were prepared for it). We will have game planned for it this year so it won’t be so surprising. That helps....
All in all, Clemson is the deserving favorite.....but don’t count us out. We have a shitload of talent. Just need a night where the stars align. It’s possible.....
