Sugar Bowl: #3 Ohio State 49, #2 Clemson 28, Jan 1 in New Orleans

Borland must have been given a "career" award in the Sugar Bowl because Werner has always out played him and lately Hilliard has played like a 5 star. But everyone is happy today!
And Sermon is "The Truth"!!!!!!

All I know is that Borland was in the right position so that Barbie couldn't exploit those runs up the middle that killed us last year. I don't know if it the coaches schemed it that way, he miraculously got faster or it was just pure, dumb luck. I'm just grateful and am fine with him getting the award. Someone else can get it on Monday.

I thought that Werner outplayed Borland as well. However, Werner did have two major penalties in the 4th quarter (face mask, blindside block). Even though both penalties were highly questionable, it's kinda tough to give a player of the game award to a guy with two personal fouls on his résumé.

Anyway, the defense played fine as a unit but no one really stood out. They should've scrapped the DPOG award and given two OPOG awards, one to Fields and one to Sermon.

I blame @AKAK for leading me down the wrong path, but he brought up going to the TigerNet forums.
I did just that today.
I didn't stay long... especially after I saw one thread that said something like, "Ohio State won the game last night, but..."
Clemson is winning at recruiting.

It made me chuckle as Singletary's commitment obviously hadn't made it through yet (not to mention a lack of recognition on what the 2021 class looks like and how the Bucks are moving forward on 2022).

Finally, I almost made a statement during the game last night, but decided to hold off until after victory:

It is interesting how much many of the Clemson players are very similar to the personality traits of their coach.
When Murphy was getting testy and showed the "hearts" with his hands to a Buckeye and then he cramps up.
The whining for officials to make targeting or roughing calls.
The little snip hits after plays were finished.

It just seems as the Buckeyes were about business and focus, and the Tigers are about playing on the questionable fringes.

Like when Justin got yanked to the ground three steps after he threw the ball?
