Do you not get the check if you are a dependent on another person?

Basically, do I get the check as a working 18 year old who is still being claimed as a dependent by my parents?

If you are being claimed by your parents/guardians, then I do not believe you get a stimulus check.

But only dependents 16 (as of Dec. 31st 2007) and under qualify to add another $300 to a parent's rebate as I thought I read in a link provided a page or two back.

(yet I've been so confused on this whole thing, and have yet to recieve my own check, so take it fwiw)

EDIT:

Found this link that says as much:

Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator - Welcome to the Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator

The tool asks a series of questions, one of the first being "can you be claimed as a dependant" or something to that effect...if you mark "yes", it comes back "You do not qualify".

No claimed income= no check. :(

Not always the case. (well, technically I guess you are correct since you do have to file / "claim" the income in a FIT return to qualify)

You must file a 2007 Federal Income Tax Return, even if you normally would not (to qualify for a stimulus check)

"Low income workers who had at least $3,000 in earned income (such as wages) and other qualifying income in 2007 but do not otherwise earn enough to be required to file a Federal tax return need to file a return to qualify for the stimulus payment. Other qualifying income includes Social Security Benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits, or certain Veterans' Benefits."
