Did you pay the fee up front or did you have the e-file fee come out of your refund? Supposedly, it is only affecting people who had the fee come out of their refund.....unless they are blowing smoke up my ass.

Yikes! I paid by credit card to avoid the fee on top of the fee by using the refund as payment. Sorry man.

Some of you legal beagles out there.... is this a refund or is it a deduction from your 07 taxes that's going to comeback as a you-owe-us on your 08 taxes?

It will not affect what you owe for 2008.

Cinci, you're supposed to spend it on gasoline.

My understanding, though it could be wrong, is that it will be counted as income next tax year.

IRS.gov

What is it? It's an economic stimulus payment that more than 130 million households will receive starting in May. It's not taxable, and it won't reduce your 2007 or 2008 refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

Yikes is correct. I honestly have no idea why I didn't just pay via credit card. I am 99% sure that is how I did it the past 2 years.

I think it was one of those moments where the phone rang, dog barked, kid started crying and the wife started bitching.............at the exact moment I was about to finalize my return and I just clicked the wrong stinkin button without reading about the additional fee.

June 27th isn't that far away...is it :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Well if IRS says so it must be true.

I'm waiting for the e-mail from the third wife of the head boofoo in Uganda who wants me to send her my rebate in exchange for getting cut in on the billions in oil funds and jewels she can't get out of the country without my help. Then I'm going to give heavily to the President's Club and get lifetime Buckeye tickets on the fifty.

Shakespeare was right, "First thing we do is kill all the lawyers" (Henry V.)

DICK
The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.
CADE
Nay, that I mean to do. Is not this a lamentable
thing, that of the skin of an innocent lamb should
be made parchment? that parchment, being scribbled
o'er, should undo a man? Some say the bee stings:
but I say, 'tis the bee's wax; for I did but seal
once to a thing, and I was never mine own man
since. How now! who's there?
Enter some, bringing forward the Clerk of Chatham
SMITH
The clerk of Chatham: he can write and read and
cast accompt.
CADE
O monstrous!
SMITH
We took him setting of boys' copies.
CADE
Here's a villain!
SMITH
Has a book in his pocket with red letters in't.
CADE
Nay, then, he is a conjurer.
DICK
Nay, he can make obligations, and write court-hand.
CADE
I am sorry for't: the man is a proper man, of mine
honour; unless I find him guilty, he shall not die.
Come hither, sirrah, I must examine thee: what is thy name?
Clerk
Emmanuel.
DICK
They use to write it on the top of letters: 'twill
go hard with you.
CADE
Let me alone. Dost thou use to write thy name? or
hast thou a mark to thyself, like an honest
plain-dealing man?
CLERK
Sir, I thank God, I have been so well brought up
that I can write my name.
ALL
He hath confessed: away with him! he's a villain
and a traitor.
CADE
Away with him, I say! hang him with his pen and
ink-horn about his neck.
Exit one with the Clerk
Enter

Hey, if you want to align yourselves with the ignorant, literacy hating rabble, be my guest.

Yep, that's what I did too. It's a burn to be charged a fee so they can charge me a fee.

Web tool by IRS: "Where's my stimulus payment"

(which depending on the person to whom you are speaking could mean very different things...:tongue2:)

...Have: your SS#
whether you filed Single, Married-joint, Married-separate, etc.
# of dependants you claimed on your '07 tax return

https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRACTC

I typed in my info. It calculated how much my stim check will be ($600 more than I thought...woo hoo!!!) and told me to expect an e-deposit on May 16th (which I already knew, based on the last two digits of my SS#)

...also said that if I did not see a deposit by the 21st, then contact the IRS, but not before because they could do nothing until after the 21st anyway.
