Sorry to be the voice of dissent to this love fest concerning the HBC but I always felt he came across as an arrogant jerk. Yes, I sometimes found his one-liners amusing. But all-in-all he probably should have been gone 3-4 years ago.

I like arrogant jerks though... so long as they can back it up. Or at least one time did.
He probably should've retired earlier, but at least he actually did retire... unlike some of the names he's being equated to.
I would've liked to see him and Tholthz together. They could talk shop about SCe. Better than shit, better than not-completely-aware Mack.

Steve Spurrier 'extremely thrilled' to return to alma mater Florida

The University of Florida announced Friday that Spurrier would return to his alma mater as ambassador and consultant for the Gators' athletic department. Spurrier had held a similar role at South Carolina, where he retired last October as head football coach.

Spurrier, 71, was already scheduled to be honored during the Gators' season opener this year when the football field will be renamed for him -- Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Spurrier was one of my faves on the All Asshole list each year. Few coaches could match him for throwing QBs under the bus or his whiny countenance on the sidelines. Kind of a spit-in-the-eye of Urban move by Florida to name the field after Steverino.

Disagree, Cinci - Spurrier won a Heisman playing for Florida. Won a NC coaching for them... Makes sense to me.

I know a lot of folks didn't like the Ol Ball Coach, and I agree he made some real dick moves in his time, but the guy was a lot of fun for a quote or two.

What do I think of Tennessee this year? Well, you can't spell Citrus without UT.
"Well, we're not very good.... But we seem to have the voters fooled.... I don't know, maybe because we beat Georgia"

Two of my favs.

He's not a favorite when he's lambasting your team/school/conference but overall I have to agree, CFB is better off for OBC being part of it.
