High School Steubenville Big Red (Merged)

My wife lived about 1/2 hour away from Steubenville growing up and she said that when Big Red was in their heyday and Canton McKinley and Massillon would play Route 43 would be backed up for miles. I have watched Steubenville play this year and they looked pretty good. I think they should win this game easily.

Don't watch much High School football, huh?

Not looking good for Red, down 21-6 in the 4th

Coldwater-Steubenville was the anticipated matchup yet Alter is on the verge of beating both of them on the way to the title.

Well, the game isn't over yet:)

Steuby had a good team this year, but was never really tested. They and their fans got obnoxious (sp), thinking they were going to "ROLL" everyone. Although Alter doesn't get much pub in this part of the state, I've followed them all year because I know the qb, so I knew they were great all year against some very good competition.

Now that the game is over, I've seen the Big Red 3 times this year and I must say I don't see how the qb can be so highly rated. Sure, he's a great player, but I'm not sure he's Ohio State great. I saw him at the Michigan game and if he's 6', then I'm 6'8".

I thought Boucher was clearly the better qb today.

The best name of a player in any sport is a linebacker with the name Branko Busick. He's not tall, but he'll be a great player at WVU.

Shouldn't say that unless you've also seen Alter - which apparently you had not. Their defense is exceptional and has been for a few years now.

The Big Red's QB was the best athlete on the field - period.
Alter's defense did a great job of not letting him make a bunch of big plays. That kid is scary good.

Borland was the best football player, though. That was clear.

If anyone has seen Alter play this year, they would know that they weren't going to get "rolled" by anyone - including Div I teams. These were two really good, talented teams. Steubenville brings a ton of big-play ability to the plate on offense, and Alter's defense was able to make them drive the field in smaller chunks. That was really the difference in the game.

I hope we're looking at him as a DB...
