Stephen Strasburg (2019 World Series MVP)

Just for the record, I think Strasburg is the truth. I've seen two of his games and he has maybe the filthiest stuff I've ever seen. I realize it's just aaa, but he makes those guys look like absolute fools. Most of them never take their bats off their shoulders and just slink back to the dugout without making eye contact after the third called strike. It's unbelievable.

I watched 2 of his AA games, which was even more fun because he was going against guys who stood absolutely no chance at all. The first game he pitched in Harrisburg had a 2 hour rain delay, then a 30 minute power outage. When they finally started the damn game, the first batter made everything worth it. 3 pitches, the first one the kid looked like he was still waiting for Strasburg to throw it when it was already in the glove. The next two he just blindly swung hoping for some kind of miracle. He was throwing 96 that day......and got it up to 98 the second time with more favorable throwing conditions. He's gone over 100 in AA.....I don't know if he's hit that in AAA yet but I would bet he has.

Old ones are actually still worth a lot (pre-'80's)...

I still have a bunch from the 70s.

I remember some of my relatives buying complete sets during the craze in the 80s - when several companies began issuing cards and every fool was buying complete sets - thinking it was some sort of investment. I asked them "If they're printing millions of these things, and everybody who wants a box set is buying one, how in the hell are they going to appreciate in value? The older cards are worth something because of scarcity."

I got waved off.

Suckers.

I don't care if he's Cy Young and Walter Johnson rolled into one, whoever pays $15,000+ for his rookie card has more money than brains. :p
