Defense still wins Championships
The Laurinitis thread got me thinking... and there's only one good way to settly this - with a poll!

Sept 30th vs. Iowa... who are the starting 3 Linebackers? (choose up to 3)

Laurinaitis, Homan, Freeman, in no order. Probably not early on, but once things shake out these three will be the trio. I'd love to be wrong and see mDa recover.

By that game, I'm going Freeman, Homan & Animal JR. Homan was moved to the middle for a reason, the staff wanted him to learn the position. Granted he has now moved back to WILL, he's got a great shot to play this year.

MDA won't be healthy enough to play and I'm not sold on Kerr.

Freeman, Kerr, and Laurinaitis for me. i didnt add d andrea cuz of the same reasons, but i was thinking of putting him in, but i feel he will get a shot in games and stuff.

same here unless, some of those new players show up like Katz did his freshmen year.

Tressel gives those older players a good chance to move on to the next level like he did last year when Freeman could have played.

I know we've already had a thread/discussion on this very issue, but what the hell.

WLB - Freeman
MLB - D'Andrea/Kerr
SLB - Laurinaitis

Freeman is a lock at Will. I think if D'Andrea is healthy he starts at Mike...if he's not, it's Kerr. Sam is Laurinaitis' to lose, and neither Grant nor anyone else is good enough to take it from him right now.

I think Laurinitis will end up at the Mike position by season's end. It could have been b/c he was a freshman, but he did not seem as natural and the Sam position.

And why is that? Because you've heard others say so? Laurinaitis may not have "seemed natural" to you (whatever that means) at Sam most likely because he was thrown into the scUM and ND games...a true freshman thrown into games of the highest of profile. Coaches who are members of this have all agreed he played quite well considering the circumstances and more than held his own.

This is smelling like the old "D'Andrea to DE" and "Fox to safety" crap. Laurinaitis is a Sam, and that's where he'll stay...

And why is that?
probably via the exact same manner of observation as you.

actually, it also sounds like the "Carp will play DE" which was treated as "crap" last year. You have zero concerns about Kerr's speed like me? If mDa is healthy, obviously its his position... but I don't buy either one as being able to lock down the Mike.
