Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

at the end of the day critics loved The Shape of Water. a boring political piece about tolerance that basically boils down to a woman fucking a fish creature.

i want to be entertained at the theatere for my 12 bucks. not preached at. Johnson wanted to create thought provoking art. I wanted to see shit blown up and see Luke be the badass Jedi he was in the cannon marvel comics and books that we never saw on the screen.
TLJ wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t what a Star Wars movie was to be. and spare the political grandstanding about how Lucas’ empire stood for blah blah blah. i was 7 years old in 77 and I just wanted to watch the heroes win and see cool aliens.

Just finished seeing Episode IX at the theater. It was the tenth Star Wars movie I'd seen since Wednesday, saw them all in episode order, adding Rogue One before Ep IV. I've done that every time there's a new movie, it's almost a relief that I won't have to do that again. What can I say, the force is with me, but it's only so strong.

It was a satisfying conclusion to the saga, with some fun bits mixed in.

Saw Rise of Skywalker tonight. Don’t understand the critical backlash. Was an entertaining popcorn muncher that answered unanswered questions for Trilogy III and provided some satisfying conclusions to Rey and Kylo’s story arcs, with some Oh Shit plot twists thrown in.

If you mythologize this franchise which is honestly just a silly Hatfield vs McCoy space opera when Lawrence Kasdan wasn’t brought in to script doctor and write dialogue, that’s on you.

Only thing wrong with this movie was ancillary characters literally being introduced solely to provide new MacGuffins to help the Resistance along the way five minutes later.

But since Kerri Russell has been smokin hot for 20 years I’ll allow it.

But, lets remember the good, shall we?

8 year old me lost my virginity that May 1983 day, and I didn’t even know why.

Seeing the movie Christmas Day with the daughters, SIL, and niece, but was also able to see the first seven episodes of The Mandalorian. I'll be in town for Episode 8 but since I don't have Netflix back in Hawaii I'll miss the rest, which sucks because while I'm not at the "addicted" stage, I really would like to see all the future episodes up through conclusion.

Saw it again today in DOLBY, and it was just as much fun as opening night (except for THAT scene).

What hit me today was that this is likely the last time Williams composes for Star Wars. I'm not ok with that. Sitting in the theater listening to the credits roll, just soaking in that amazing music as it was meant to be heard. That's the last time doing that with a Williams-scored Star Wars movie.

Yeah the CGI sex scene between Luke and Leia was a strange choice.
