The more you play this the more fun it is, probably because you get better weapons and skills, but man, most fun I've had with any video game in over 10 years. Better than anything I played on the old 360 or so far on the new xbox.

I can't speak highly enough about fighter squadron. Other than some balancing issues, it is worth the purchase price as is for me. Lots of fun. Games only take 5 or 6 minutes generally so you can play 2 or 3 during halftime of the Cavs or whatnot.

Probably my favorite normal mode is the new mode Turning Point. Some quick tips and notes and whatnot for BP.

This mode is sadly only played on the new map Jakku from the movie so far. Made the movie more entertaining having played the shit out of Jakku before seeing it.

Basically you have a front line of combat in the Turning Point game mode. The empire is making its last stand, the rebels attacking.

First line has three control points. If the rebels take control of any one of the three control points for enough time, the entire line collapses and then the empire must fall back and the rebels push forward.

Two more lines with only two control points after the first line with three control points. This is a 20 vs 20 mode so as the action condenses to less control points it gets more hectic. A little mismatched on the matchup too. The empire has the small ATST walkers that you can control as a player once you learn where the pickup(s?) are. The rebels have the air speeder / snow speeder as well as A wing and maybe even the X wings, not entirely sure. You are unmatched in the sky though and only need to worry about being attacked from the ground.

Last line is only one control point. 20 vs 20 for one zone of control. Lots of good chaos. The defending spawn seems closer to the zone so they have an advantage, plus without communication it is easier for everyone to simply defend than to coordinate an attack.

It is a timed game mode. You get something like 5 to 10 minutes (not sure) to get the first line, and then it adds 3 minutes to the clock each line you take.

Great, great mode. The battle action is intense.

Good strategy in the beginning with the multiple points to choose from. I find myself running from point to point to defend to make up for the dumbassery on my team.

Nothing is more fun than assaulting a well defended control point with a ton of guys. You go to that last point and it is large and they have 20 players on the team and probably 12 -15 in the zone just waiting for targets. I love to scan pulse them, show the 12 - 15 guys to my whole team. Then I charge up that bowcaster, then I run towards the wall, jump over the wall, and try and hit at least 2 targets with the explosive bowcaster. Then I am in the middle and with any luck can shoot my way back out to rinse and repeat or with some good team work, stay and be king of the hill.

There are a couple of great spots to attack / defend from on the last control point. Attacking wise, there is a little ATAT head skeleton on the right near the open entrance to the zone. Get in there and duck down. You can scan pulse nearly the entire control zone from cover there, then stand up and hit targets in the front of the zone and escaping out the one side choke point. Great fun.

Defending wise there are more than a few good spots. You will see the better players sitting there waiting for targets. One of my favorites is the back corner near the spawn. You get in the upstairs of that metal thing and again, you can scan pulse the entire perimeter for your team, pick off targets as you move around the small upstairs platform, and then when they over run your team, you can play superman with the bowcaster and the jump pack to clear out 2 or 3 enemies.

I also really like the area between all the stacked boxes in the back of the zone. I often hide inbetween the boxes on the left so I can cover the choke point entry there as well as any direct attackers coming from the front. Meanwhile I have both my sides covered and the air support generally hits the other side of the zone where the spawn is, so it is safe from that too.

Check out Turning Point if you haven't. Tons of fun once you learn to play it right.

Now for some Cavs action.

I went from getting trashed and finishing in the bottom third with 3 and 9 games to having 2:1 games (have a crazy 40-5 game every dozen or two games) on attack. When defending, that drops to more like 1.4 to 1. I kill the same amount of dudes but boy do you die a lot. Fortunately it's so much fun that you don't care.

I really wish they'd fix the idiotic spawning system and provide a bit more depth to the personnel and loadouts. That said it's definitely a ton of fun.

I'm still trying to figure out if the auto aim silliness hurts or helps me as a decent shot in most FPS games. I notice it pulling me off on occasion but I also seem to track shockingly well from a mile out. Need more time in the lab to test that.

Coming from battlefield, I have a tough time abandoning the aim and burst carefulness in that game. I've found that the scoped LMG is pretty deadly if you burst fire at the head region. It's the only weapon that feels balanced between full auto spraying in busy hallways and long range precision. I may need more pracftice but the t-21 just seems weak. The plasma cannon is definitely cheesy but I enjoy how far away you can snipe with it, requiring some semblance of skill.

I roll scoped LMG, explosive shots, plasma cannon and either bowcaster or Ion cannon (I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who carries this in most games). My trait is the bounty hunter which is a ton of fun when you get rolling.

I have not been able to get used to the jet pack. I find the two weapons to be too useful. The bowcaster is wicked at softening areas, either splash damage in a crowded room or making them panic from afar and finishing them off with a burst or two from my lmg.
If you don't have anything to shoot, hit your bumper again and you will put away the bowcaster with out shooting it and therefore don't need to wait for the card to recharge to use it again.
Yup, it took me a little while to figure that one out. I'm kind of curious how much I stick out on the map when I'm charging up the bowcaster. None of my friends have it yet to check. Also, almost none of my xbox one friends feel like buying this game. A certain MS shill is noticeably absent from this thread. :shake:
Fighter Squadron is the only mode of the game without special guns or star cards and what not, so it is perfect for the new player to level up in. It is also a mode that you don't use star cards in so you can't spend the charges on a charged star card. In other words, you can spend all your score points from Fighter Squadron on upgrades, whereas the other modes, you need to replenish your charges used at some point. Short version, play more fighter squadron when trying to level up.
Yup and it's a lot of fun even if you're not great at it. Easy way to score points and unlock the real guns so you can fight fair in multiplayer.

You can hear other player's bowcaster charging and see the tip if you are close enough.

Pro tip, never get close enough to another guy to see his tip whether it be Star Wars Battlefront or anything really.

I use the Ion Torpedo in my second hand. If I am stuck with a bunch of vehicles to beat, when I die I then pick my second hand so I have the Ion weapon. I'm not much of a sniper, but I do keep the pulse cannon in the second hand too. Both the ion torpedo and the pulse cannon are very effective at damaging the ATAT walkers. Generally the second hand should always be anti vehicle and switched to as needed depending on gameplay. With the ability to switch between your two hands in between deaths / spawns, I find no need to carry the ion weapons in my normal hand.

For my main hand, it is hard to beat the scan pulse in the center, but if I am out of charges I will roll with explosive shot paired with a burst fire gun or the personal shield. The explosive shot plus a burst fire gun is pure death. My 3 shot EE3 is great with it, the 5 shot burst SE14C is just insane with explosive shot. Not as good at distance, but it is like a rapid fire shotgun basically with the explosive damage. With each shot being explosive, the burst fire can be a one shot kill. I generally roll with the EE3 gun. It is Boba Fett's gun. Good at all ranges. I have even beat guys in sniper battles with the sniper rifle T21 or T21B with my trusty EE3 and a little strafing magic to dodge bullets. Those T21's seem weak to me to, but are probably the best regular gun for sniping.

That putting your charged bowcaster away without shooting it trick works for all weapons. Very handy for the pulse cannon when you don't have a shot after charging, just put it away so you can shoot again immediately. No need to wait for the card to reset that way. I haven't done this yet, but if you roll with bounty hunter and get to level three by killing 6 in a row without dying, the pulse cannon will reset with every kill and you will get a power up. So you will be unlimited sniping and getting a power up every kill. Sounds fun, but I am not much of a sniper. Going to try it out some night though.

I find with either the scan pulse or the explosive shot, I don't need anymore weapons. Sometimes I will bring a smoke grenade with me. Paired with the scan pulse it is like shooting fish in a barrel sometimes, in particular when defending a control zone or whatnot. I don't feel right not having the jump pack on me. Occasionally I will leave it back, but I always wish I had it when I don't. The only other star card I miss when I don't have is the scan pulse. It is fun to mix up the other cards though to experiment. Lots of different styles of play can be effective and fun.

As for traits, I mix it up between bounty hunter for the extra pickups, body guard so that I can take a homing shot and just laugh it off in addition to all other explosive damage, or scout so I can sneak around.

I only know two people in my physical world that play this game. Lots of negative reviews out there which I just don't get. Admittedly, I am the casual gamer this game was designed for, but I don't see how it is anything but a good time. I can see how you can make it more complex, but I am not sure how that adds to the fun.

I don't think I would buy this if I was on PC. Almost nobody is playing and there are lots of stories of it just being broken. No such issues on Xbox that I see. Sure lots of things could be made better, but it is great as is. I got extra fucked up one night playing, go figure, and ended up buying the season pass. Looking forward to more star wars for sure as the lack of maps is a little boring at the moment, in particular when your favorite normal mode, Turning Point, only has the one map.

Here are the player stats for the game. The consoles have decent amount of players at least. I have checked and seen the PC with like 3,000 users world wide. That's awful. Xbox is typically 50,000 - 100,000 with playstation at about double the xbox.

http://swbstats.com/

Finally got my K/D over 1.00. Up to a whopping 1.02 now. Not all my stats / kills as only about half the time is mine at best, but then again I am the worst player here other than in flying. Lots of fighter squadron so lots of kills not counting here. It was down at 0.2 something there for the first few weeks of heavy playing.

Didn't really think about the auto aim. I was having tons of problems with aiming, maybe it was the auto aiming, because I got better when I stopped trying to zoom in. I think it really sunk in for me when I scan pulsed a guy and got up behind him without him knowing. Started trying to light him up from about 20 meters or so away, not far, but not real close either. I think I hit him with one laser and then put lasers left and right of him. He slowly turned around and just seemed like he looked at me like some sort of retard and then shot twice and then I was dead. At that point I lowered my sensitivity a bunch and have been decent since. I think I am at 12 or 13% now. I can't turn as fast as most people as a result so if I get ambushed I am generally fucked.

Will have to play around with the auto aim. It is soft locking on more than I realized.

I saw a video of a "real life" pc mod running at 60fps at 1080p. It was like watching a movie.
I think I saw what you are talking about too, it was great. I think I saw 1440p 4k ultra or something like that.

Even on Xbox, the presentation in the game is A+. Video and sound are damn near perfect.

Easy way to have a few hours slip by without noticing.

Here is a youtube video of that real life mod for PC on Endor. Just stunning graphically.

Both next-gen consoles were two full years old when Battlefront dropped, and the last-gen consoles were almost a decade old. I really doubt this game would run well on that console and unlike some of the earlier titles, I finally feel like I'm playing on a newer system instead of a 5-10% visual upgrade (which was what delayed my purchase for awhile).

Turning Point is the [Mark May].
That final control point is great.

Attacking wise, I love the depression in the ground on the right hand side (opposite the steel cage crap in the back corner). It is in the front of the zone there and you can stand low and really raise hell. Speaking of raising hell, nothing like making the big leap with the bowcaster to the area in front of the steel cage thing. You can get under there and hide in the zone and just lay waste to people.

Defense wise, I like the upper of the steel cage thing to scan pulse and then patrol both flank entry points on the opposite sides. If they collapse the middle, I clear that out and try to return to my home and rinse and repeat. I also love the area on the defending right side up against the inner wall behind the three stacked boxes. You can see that whole front entry point from cover. Another similar spot opposite there up front. Get behind that metal thing and just wait for people to come into the zone and pick them off.

I hope they add more maps to turning point. Best mode in the game. You kind of have to play the objective whether you want to or not and you still get to play team death match too.

I like flying kind of like that one kid likes turtles.

Got to sit in the cockpit of a small plane on the way to Chicago and back this past summer. Kind of neat. I had live controls in front of me and pedals and would bump them on occasion and yea they were live. Got to fly over Fermilab too which was interesting. Pilot dozed off midflight even so I was the only conscious guy in the plane for a minute or two.

Not trained, but it didn't seem too difficult. He had a plane for sale for $7500 even that worked. Expensive to keep and I don't have much need for a plane, let alone an old open cockpit plane, but still much cheaper than I would have thought. Never thought I have airplane money on me.

I could play Turning Point 24/7 even with only having the one map.

Really hope they have new maps for it soon, even the other original maps just with this mode.

It really forces your team to play the objective.

No matter if you like to fly, flank, snipe, work behind the enemy, you are helping the team.

If you got a good team, you can run right through as the Rebels until the last point and then one or two really good players can still stuff you. Lots of fun when you are the imperials and getting rolled and they force you back to that last point and then you go on a rampage. I got like 8 - 10 in a row on the ground once in the zone all at the last point. Great action.

That team we were playing was great. No matter how good either of us did, they dominated. I actually had to give up my strafe runs on the control point because they were so good they were pushing the rest of the team back sometimes.

I think I played this mode with John Simon this weekend. Name was X Simon Titans X or some shit like that. He was playing with some guy titanwideout too. If it was Johnny Simon, he killed me pretty good a few times. The guy could shoot for sure.
