AND they called a penalty?

Fuck the NHL. Really. Fuck them.

holstrom hit him across the pads before the puck got on net. i dont like the call but i see where its comming from. you cant let a forward lay lumber on a netminder. that being said were was the pitt damn to atleast play patty cake with holstrom or maybe plan him?

if i was a wings fan id hate the call, if i was a pens fan id love the call. personally i would have called the goal off and no penalty. that being said i know for a fact the discussion has been made to detroit about that. theyve taken run at netmenders all year. danny made the call, im not a fan of ohalloran. maybe its cuz hes a dertoit boy...

Maybe....but what Homer did had nothing to do with the goalie not making the same.

Flowerboy squared to the shooter and closed his eyes and completely missed the puck. Holmstrom was off to the side a bit. I'll see if I can find the picture of it.

And it's not like they've been consistent with the call, as in both the Dallas game AND in the game last night had the Stars/Pens end up having almost the exact same situation in reverse, with absolutely no call made. In fact if you want to talk about "running the goalie" look at what Pittsburgh did to Osgood about 5 minutes after the bullshit no-goal/penalty on Holmstrom.

EDIT: Found it on the first try.....Flowerboy came out of the crease, Holmstrom's stick barely and I mean barely touched him, but he wasn't even in front of MAF...

Note the closed eyes. Better yet note the complete lack of any type of physical control on Holmstrom....

EDIT 3: I'm not one of those nuts that think the NHL is out to get the Wings. Don't get me wrong there. but a bad ref is a bad ref and O'Hallaran is a bad ref and has been for a while.

have you seen the overhead? #96 hit maf across the legs before the puck was on net. it happened before that shot. have you seen the overhead?

i know youre not a crazy. a tad of a pessimist from time to time but very reasonable.

here is the intro-pretty cool if you ask me and im not a wings fan

the pens really need to set up their forecheck. they need to get pucks deep and start forechecking. this takes two things 1-more effort. 2-desire to play a tougher game. and give credit to the detroit blue liners. they controlled it and did not allow the pens to set up the forecheck. lidstrom, rafalski, stuart and kronwall deserve mega props. also on lidstrom, how many times did he keep the puck in right their in a row? 4 or 5?

I bet the Pens because I'm a lifelong fan and we're dealing with play money here. My head tells me Detroit in five. They've won 3 Cups the last 10 years and many of those players remain. They also were the best team in the league this season, and have home ice.

The Pens are young and have a bright future, but if they pull this off it'll be a very pleasant surprise.

Go Pens! :)

I like the lines the Pens have going tonight, especially Malone playing with Crosby and Hossa. I'm excited to see how the new lines play together.

It's also good to see that the Wings have Franzen back. I want to see both teams at their best.. even if it hurts the team I want to win. :tongue2:

The Wings' experience is evident in this series. Hell, the Pens haven't even scored, yet. The kids have grown up quickly but they appear to be in a bit over the heads at this point in their careers. :(

Better second period though, despite only six shots. If they keep playing like they did in that period they'll get one in eventually. Unfortunately, they still need to play better if they want to get back to Detroit. :(
