I don't know how bad Bauserman has to play to lose the starting job, but he was horrendous yesterday. I believe Braxton was the only one who had what it takes to run our o-line depleted offense: outstanding mobility, a quick release, and good decision making. I can understand him being redshirted but if we play Bauserman we may just start 0-5...

There is ZERO chance tOSU starts out 0-5. Even if Hankins starts at QB they don't lose at home four times.:shake:

This is an astounding statement. You're saying if Bauserman is the guy, we lose to Akron, Toledo and Colorado...all at home. I think you need to reel in the hyperbole. With that defense and that stable of RBs, I could throw on some pads, line up in the shotgun, and tOSU still wins those games. Wow...just WOW....and you say that our offense is "O-line depleted" despite the fact that nearly every expert expects our OL to be very good...even without Adams. This is a contender for worst post of the year thus far. I mean...that's a doozy.

It also continues to amaze me how much some folks put into spring game performances. It's a glorified scrimmage. If anything can be taken from the spring game, Taurian Washington would have been an All-American last year and Bam Childress would have been a two time Heisman winner.

We may start 0-5? Do you really believe that or are you just trying to prove how much you hate one of the Buckeye football players?

I guess I don't believe that. Pardon me for the hyperbole, I guess it's the frustration talking. And I never said I hated a Buckeye football player. I'm a Buckeye myself, and I love my team through and through. I just hate the fact that we continue to stick with Bauserman while everyone around him continues to play better than him. I would take Graham, Guiton, or Miller over Joe's experience. No offense to him personally, but I have yet to see an impressive play in his college football career. Pretty sure the last play of yesterday's spring game was the first successful play I've seen from him in a very long time.

What have you seen that indicatates they "continue to stick with Bauserman"? Because he played in the spring game? Of course he's going to get a long look. He has more experience in this program than all the others combined. I think you really need to step back, take a look around, and relax. There are still 4.5 months until the season starts. Who is under center is not going to be as a big factor as you may think in those first five games. It's going to be Tressel, err, Fickell-ball to the max. Play great defense, solid special teams, and try to shorten the game with the ground game. And with the talent we have at RB and on the OL...that should be enough to win at least 4, if not all 5, of those games.

For the record, I think Braxton ends up seperating himself and winning the job in summer camp. He's just too talented not to. But, even if Bauserman wins the job, he's just going to be asked to manage the game and not make mistakes. Plus, if bauserman is the nominal starter, you can bet your ass they'll find ways to get Braxton in there too.

Braxton has just gotten better by leaps and bounds. Tress did say what happens over the Summer could be significant to who becomes the starter in the first 5 games. It's good to see there is a good competition for starting QB. That will only make the winner or winners better!

With OSU potentially landing Marshall at QB in the future, I see no problem with OSU not redshirting Braxton. It would be nice to let him sit for a year under Pryor and grasp the position and playbook for a year without being thrust into action, but after watching the spring game he's our best option even while working with a limited playbook. With having a question mark at LT and both guard positions our best option is a QB with mobility because negative plays because of sacks really hurt some drives by Bauserman and Graham. I wish Guiton's progress was further along at this point because I thought going into this year that it would be his job to lose. Braxton is obviously the best overall talent just wish he had more experience.

Who is walk on WR Ryan Ross? He looked pretty good yesterday. Great hands! Smart route runner.
Apparently, Ross played for a bad Akron Hoban team, but his video shows great hands and very good speed. I could see him developing into a fine player if given the opportunity but he has to compete against scholarship players and that is tough . Maybe he's a diamond in the rough?

Braxton won't redshirt.

Agreed. I also agree that you can't put much stock into Spring Game but the things I saw out of Braxton Miller are things that wouldn't have mattered if it was a game, practice, or 7 on 7. His footwork is way better than Pryor's was his sophomore year. His arm strength is better than I thought and his running ability is what it is. Give that kid some time to learn and watch out.

I think we could line him up at QB and throw 10 passes during the game and win all of our first 5.

I guess I haven't been kept as up to date as ya'll, I've been hearing that Tressel wants to redshirt Braxton, and I was judging purely from past experience with how Tressel deals with QB's; he seems to value experience over skill especially when guys like Miller are so young. I feel that Bauserman will take the first snap of the season, but I believe that he'll lose the starting role pretty quick because Miller's skill set is too hard to ignore.

For the most part that has been true, but when he has players with special talent, they play...look no further than TP in '08, and Braxton is further along mechanically and in other areas than Pryor was as a frosh. Braxton is a special player, we'll have a need for his skills in the first five games. He'll play...quite a lot I suspect. RS really does no good. A player with his level of ability learns best from live game reps. He'll see action this year, then start for a minimum of 2 years. Even if TP was not suspended for the first five games, I still think they'd find ways to get him on the field this season.

Tress has never been in a situation where his 3 year starter was suspended for the first 5 games either. I will say this too, Tress has never had a QB quite like Braxton. He has the throwing ability of Troy and the wheels of Pryor...I would be willing to bet the farm that Braxton is the starter for the first 5 games.
