Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

Pittman

I think alot of people are underestimating Pittman.Pittman averaged almost 5.5 per carry last year when he was not 100%.He also averaged over 10 yards a carry during his HS career(not a season-for his career). As far as speed goes everyone seems to believe that Haw is faster than Pittman(I think they believe Haw is faster because of his reported 4.2 40 at OSU senior camp in 2004) yet Pittman was the faster player this winter-his name is on the top 10 list for 40 times at the WHAC.

Ya know... that hurts a little. I don't think I've ever done anything to you. You must be BN27's bitch... How about I send your shirts with **** stains on 'em just like he's getting them?
I was under the impression that they would be sent like that anyway.

Just because BFS is "staying" with you for the weekend. Don't assume that everyone has their own personal bitch.:tongue2:

Ask SIMV whose been doing most of the grunt work and who has gotten to do the fun stuff (ie design, thread work). Heck I'm even setting up my desktop in his room to record the spring game hopefully... I'm definitely getting the good end of teh deal

The biggest report crowd for spring practice this year was Nebraska with over 60,000 fans. I really think that Nebraskens have an inferiority complex with Ohio. The want to be the best, flat corn growing state out there. Think about the parallels.
State song: Ohio - Beautiful Ohio, Nebraska - Beautiful Nebraska
State seal: Both agrarian scenes but they had to emblish theirs more by adding more corn stacks, bigger mountains, boats on the river and so forth.

Ohio

Nebraska

Finally, the obvious envy of Ohio State. They copy us in every way possible. Our scarlet was perverted into their Big Red. Our block "O" got bumped another letter down into a block "N". They even claim that Nebraska-Oklahoma is as big of rivalry as OSU-Meatchicken, despite the fact that they only play every other year.

I bet they even lied about their spring game attendance to make it sound bigger than OSU.

Pics from last years SG, dunno what the numbers were...

Very nice photos there R0CK3TM4NN! Think those might convince our 'Horn readers that we were not kidding about the level of fan support.

BTW, I should have been clearer earlier about those numbers I reported earlier today.
Those came straight from the the Ohio State Athletic Department -- Ticket Office, whom I simply called direct this AM. Given they are the folks counting the beans, I trust their numbers.:)
To re-state per the AD Ticket Office at OSU. Last year, with a huge walk-up on Spring Game day attendance was 70,000. To this Monday AM ticket sales were at 20,000, but tickets are still selling and "we always get a good walk-up crowd."

2. If the defense is basically handicapped in this matchup, how bad was the offense a few years ago when they lost?!

Ummm, it was bad. Really bad. Don't you remember, or have you suppressed those memories into the darkest corner of your brain (like I've tried to do on many occasions)? Does 107th out of 114 ring a bell (or numbers similar to that)?

Spring Game Notes

I looked around for this thread, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Basically, what are the top three things you'll be looking for in the spring game. Here's my current thoughts, but I want to hear yours to give me some more points to look for:

1. Corners - Can anyone (including AY) contain Ginn/Holmes? Who will play well other than Ashton? I'm actually really interested to see who is picked second or third.
2. DE - who is the stud? Barrow vs. Richardson vs. Gohlstin. My money's on Gohlstin, but it should be interesting.
3. Rehring and Cordle. Lots of hype and potential, but I'm interested to see how strong, quick and tough these two really are.

On a side note, I'm actually not really anticipating the QB match-up. The spring game last year was a bit disappointing when it came down to judging QB play. There's just not enough freedom within that game's structure.

I always find the draft order very telling too. Does anyone know when the teams will be picked?

By the way, RB play would be my #4.

I agree 100%! You don't average over 5 yards per carry at the college level unless you have some skills. Look at the starting Buckeye RB's over the past 20+ years who have reached his yards per carry...

2002 Maurice Clarett
1998 Michael Wiley
1995 Eddie George
1990 Robert Smith

That's a pretty short list and some serious talent! JT has said that Pittman's vision and fundamentals are as good as anyone in the game and those are the things that matter more than the measureables like 40 times and size. The only thing that seemed to be missing was drive and it appears like he's stepping up his game, so I'm looking for some very good things out of him.

If i can trick my boss into letting me off of work (I work in the dang student union on campus) then I'll be there for sure, as I already have my ticket. Put me down for 61,500.

What is a Buckeye, you ask?
We're Crazy Killer Nuts!!!!!
