...personally i would try to split time early in the game between underwood and ginn to see how he holds up. you just have to be careful about how many plays you put the kid in on. just because gamble could do 130 plays per game doesn't mean everyone can. ... currently he plays offense, kickoff return (id pull him off this btw), and punt return. ... i have to believe fox will be back and i think salley will as well. regardless of his mistakes against purdue, underwood almost has to be the #3 guy.
lets face it, we have nothing to loose here.

If we put him on defense at all, it would only be for nickel/dime packages which shouldn't be that often, and so wouldn't be as much wear and tear (whereas Gamble played corner full time). Also, our KO return pair is Hall and Holmes...Ginn returns only punts (paired with Holmes). With Fox and Salley back, I would not be as hesitant to put Ginn in a nickel or dime package, but not on man coverage. Like you say, we have nothing to lose so maybe putting Ginn in for nickel and dime schemes could work and not affect his play on offense and punt returns.

The best memories of my childhood are Jack Tatum hits during the Michigan games. Anyone remember how he took the quarterbacks out of the game. That's what we need...a day full of Jack Tatum hits. Merciless aggression!

Mili, I've seen ginn on quite a few kickoffs this year he just isn't one of the deep 2. I expect to see a reverse off the kickoff in the meatchicken game tomorrow from holmes to ginn.
Even a fake reverse would work. Teams are so scared of Ginn, that if you faked it to him, they would follow him.

He was a QB in high school too. Give him an option pass.
If he had the ball the entire secondary would come up to stop him.
You know someone would be all alone 50 yards down field.

They've done that fake reverse a couple of times this year on a kickoff and everytime I gasp and hold my breath just hoping that Ginn has it and is going to take it to the house.

I know like all of you say, it will not happen. But my out of nowhere plan would be to go nickel all day long with a backfield of Salley, Fox, Whitner, Youtoby, Ginn. Ginn locks up on Edwards and never leaves his side. Doesn't have to know the defense much that way, just CB technique, which by the way, he could lock down ANYONE 1 on 1 last year. Then I roll Fox, who is playing Safety or Nickel, over onto a double team on Edwards.

That puts your two most talented defensive players on there, the superstud young talent with the wily veteran who never gets beat. Ginn can afford to play tight as can be and take whatever chances he needs to with Fox backing him up.

And Youtoby versus their other WRs? No contest.

The point was Ginn hasn't been a returner per se. But, you are right in the fact that if he's on the field he's a potential factor.
