Sparty +9.5 at tOSU (ov/un 127.5) Sat 6 ET, ESPN

I guess at least the players don't have to hear about a streak anymore (although Kentucky doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping theirs alive).

Now the team can realize they aren't as good as they think they are or perhaps the ranking says they are.

With that shooting performance, I don't know how that can't be a wake-up call.

Note how Izzo who is always in the final four was rotating players in and out like a hockey game
Note that some of Izzo's Final Four teams only went 2 or 3 deep on the bench. Here's the sticking point with Matta: trust. The players that some are clamoring for obviously have not won Matta's confidence to be put in high pressure situations. Ones that have, like Scott and Thompson, do play.

I think Scott not playing today was not because of something he is not doing but because Craft WAS the freaking team. He was the only one consistently hustling out there. And this has nothing to do with Scotts abilities, but I don't want to know what the game would have been like with Craft on the bench. But as good as he was today the other 4 starters were almost equally as crappy. As I said earlier, you don't shoot 25% for a game and beat a team like Michigan State... it just doesn't happen. Some of that goes to MSU's defensive gameplan and execution, some goes to OSU just not knocking down wide open jumpers.

Time to move on and get better... bring on Tubby Smith and the Gophers.

Did Scott even see the floor? I only saw Thompson and Ravenel out there as subs.

Last year when teams got physical with Sully Thad had Dallas he could put in to stop or match the others team physical play..Ravenel hasn't been able to bring the physical play and Williams is just a freshman.Sully is going to have to his own dirty work, if he has to take a hard foul early...do it.

Days like this also remind me that Diebs is no longer here...

Yep. The single greatest loss from last year to this year is Diebler. There is simply no one that can shoot like him on the roster.

26.4% - 13.3%

Just stating the obvious here, but that won't ever get it done.

The pattern continues unfortunately.

And yes, as you guys said, this team is definitely missing SOMETHING. I don't think it's exactly what Diebs brought to the table, I'm actually thinking it's more along the lines of what Lighty brought.

Well all my channels are down...Along with me not being able to view page 21 in this thread

Matta has to realize this isn't last years team. We can't throw the starters out there & have them dominate . He's gonna have to mix it up a little bit and play to players strength

Let Shannon , Sam & Spoon get in off the bench and push the tempo & run for a few minutes. Add size to the front line and start Amir at the 5 , I thought he played pretty damn good at Kanas. I'm puzzled with him not getting any real minutes since then.

LAQUINTON ROSS

How long has he been with the team? It's time to get this kid on the on the floor playing big minutes
, 6'8 on the perimeter that can create his shot for himself and others. Plus he's money from the 3 line , Something the team has been lacking all season long.

All this is a lot more dire with the play of Buford. Not sure what's going on with him , I'm hoping he gets all these kind of games out his system for the tourny but I'm not so sure

He's money, IN PRACTICE. I'm sure Buford shoots 80% or better IN PRACTICE.

If it would translate to the game that would be one thing, but it hasn't. I don't think throwing an unproven freshman who hasn't been on the team actively as long as the others is fair to Ross OR the right thing to do.

It's time to face it - this team isn't "elite" yet. That happens. They really look like a team that is a year away to be honest.

If this team isn't ELITE yet, then what harm is being done by giving players like Ross, Siebert, Williams, Spoon, etc. meaningful minutes? Especially if someone like Sully needs a breather? I like seeing Ravenel on the floor, but I'd like to see the young guns in there more.

dunno if this was discussed, but is it just me, or does Sully need to learn he needs to keep a cooler head? I barely saw any of the game, but when I read quotes about all they wanted to do is get him frustrated tells me he needs to learn to calm himself down

The only reason I can think of is Matta believes they aren't ready for the big minutes.

OSU is paying him the money for his judgement calls in that case. Trust the coaches and whatnot.
