I think that Ohio State will try to establish the pass early and use it to set up the running game. The screen passes looked good in the Navy game. We had a lot of diversity in our play calling last year but execution was not good. Execution was a problem against Navy on some plays. First games are never pretty and we have lots of new faces out there. The Buckeyes offense needs to really focus this week and they know it.

On defense, I don't know what to think. Prior to the 99 yard drive, they looked pretty good against Navy. The secondary looked vulnerable and I think USC will test it early. Can Ohio State can get penetration and get after Barkley? Will the linebackers be effective against the USC running game and can we stop those 7 yard gains on the edges? If the defense can get some big stops early, then the crowd will become an important factor in this game.

We cannot afford to let Barkley get comfortable. No matter how talented he is, he's still a true freshman and 105,000 fans should be on his ass from the get-go. The crowd can't let him hear himself think and the defense needs to bring the heat every chance they get.

It's a typo and the page no longer exists, but I really like how on Sportingnews.com they had the headline of, "Terrelle Pryor and the Buckeyes hose USC in one of the season's most anticipated games."

If those screens work on USC, it will definitely slow down the rush, giving our O-line a chance to settle down.

IMHO, Barkley's success will depend on USC's running game. If McKnight does well, I would be surprised if Barkley didn't do well. If their running game does poorly, I would be surprised if Barkley didn't also do poorly.

Hmmm. Barkley is definitely saying the right things, but "It won't faze me.". Huh. Interesting thought...anyone watch the SJST game? From what I saw it was a pretty lethargic environment. It'll be a different situation when he's in the 'Shoe, 100,000+ rabid fans screaming their heads off, and Barkley trying to get the call in...oh yeah, gonna be great!

:)

oh no its going to be loud, as a competitor you strive for the biggest stage and setting. Barkley is excited, not nervous. He knows what he has to do and he will try to do it. This game is far bigger for Pryor than it is for Barkley.
