The more and more I think about the game, the less and less I can blame any of the coaching.

Yeah, I agree. There are those plays that you look back on immediately following the game that you contribute to coaching as the reason we lost. But then you just have to take in the game as a whole, and the players, specifically on offense, who didn't make plays.

We had our chances, we had a golden opportunity, SC gave us every chance to win (many of those chances we earned), but we didn't do it. And it's still eating at me.

There is a lot of positive that I took from that game, but I almost feel guilty about that. This is Ohio State. I shouldn't be taking positives from a loss. We're better than that.

I'm sorry but I have absolutely no problem with the defense Heacock coached Saturday night. They were spectacular.

I thought the turn around in our defense from week 1 to week 2 was nothing short of spectacular. If you'd have told me after the Navy game that we'd dominate the LOS and shut down their RBs until the last drive of the game...I would've called you crazy! Hats off to everyone involved with our defense Sat night! And that's all I have to say about that.

Another thing has been bothering me. On short yardage situations, we typically hand it off to Boom who has to avoid tacklers who have already overwhelmed our O Line. Don't you think we'd easily get the first down/touchdown more times than not if we just let a 6'5'', 240 lb beast go straight up the middle right off the snap? I believe it's called a QB sneak in some circles. I believe it's in every other playbook in football.

Just seems like we were making it harder than it had to be.

thats what I was wondering too, USC did it 3 times and they have a smaller QB
maybe Tressel didn't have confidence in the O-line based on previous performances

Heacock needs to go and Tressel needs to stop calling the Offense. It is evident in every big game of the last 4 years. Heacock and his "prevent win" defense with a lead (see Fiesta Bowl 2009 as well) and Tressel with his ultra-conservative play calling (also mostly with a lead).

Put the pipe down.

Hmmmmm, more like 2011. IF he's still at OSU. Kid has a lot of work in front of him. Super talented? Yep. But rough around several edges.

Well, I feel that he will get on track, help us win out next season and we will win the Rose Bowl. Bear with me, I'll lay this out:

OSU loses heartbreaker to USC.
OSU then struggles through a few weeks of getting the "O" on track, but the "D", reminiscent of the dominant "D"'s of the early 2000's, keeps us on track.
We beat Penn State IN Crappy Valley, and people start talking again.
We win out, including beating an overachieving scUM team in the finale.
We go to the Rose Bowl, defeating USC or whomever (fuck, its week 2, I dont know...ha) behind a great game from TP.

Now, assuming thats how it plays out, can you see how we would be front runner for the Heisman next season?

By the way, thats worst case. We could easily end up in the NC. I mean, Tennesee is planning to trash FLA Sat, right? :p

Its early my friends, lets get this season back in the winning column starting Saturday against Toledo!!!

:oh:

I've read too many posts to believe you're happy with just a win in a game. We've had this discussion after a number of wins.

He asked my expectations for the USC game, not what I am or am not satisfied with when we are playing the sisters of the poor.

I expect OSU to win any game they play. I know they won't always be able to but I'll be damned if I ever take heart in a home loss to a team with a freshman QB because they didn't blow us out.

I've been thinking that same thing ever since the game. However, I have been able to realize that one game this early won't make/break a season. I love these Buckeyes, you can only stay mad so long :)

That's what I love too. Its not like we were Notre Dame and lost to an un-ranked team.

We lost to a team ranked above us and with this being so early anything can happen. Remember in 07 when we lost to Illinois? Everything fell into place and we were back up in the NC game.

Not saying that's going to happen but that was LATER in the season when we lost....and gentlemen....We've only just begun...

:oh:

USC Band playing The victors after the game?

I live near Ann Arbor, and a friend told me that he heard from several people that the USC band played the Victors after the game was over. Now I don't really believe that this is true, since it would be really pathetic on their part, but does anyone know anything about this?
