The inconsistent O blame only goes so far. We almost blew the Navy game and couldn't close the USC game. An 8 Minute 80 + yard drive in crunch time wasn't luck by USC.
I'm not counting my chickens even next week against Toledo, who just put up 54 on Colorado.
I'm a loyal fan but this team needs to grow and is ranked too high.
Sorry dude but I just can't agree with you about the defense.
18-15 game look at the point breakdown
7 of those points off the turnover, you CAN'T blame a defense on a 2 yard drive. That leaves 11 points that they gave up..ELEVEN.
As far as our points go, 2 of those were off a safety. Leaving the offense with 13 points, then you account for the turnover that cost us a score (7 points they scored-7 they cost us) and you have 6 net points produced on the offensive side of the ball.
Our defense was just plain on the field too long at key parts of the ball game, you just can't expect them to keep gas in the tank. Part of Tressel's game plan is controlling the ball, you don't have to score points necessarily you just have to move it and give your defense time to get their wind back. Look at the first half after the missed field goal, we get it back go 3 and out and SC takes it down and makes the field goal, you just NEED your offense to step up in those kinds of situations and control clock. Same goes for the 4th quarter, eventually you've got to make a play or 2.
The Navy game shouldn't even be brought up in discussion at this point, it should be obvious that it was simply a lack of focus/looking ahead to the next game mixed with a little gimmicky offense. Unless you think that Navy is almost as good as USC (with a better offense)
