I agree with Dayton, but...that said.....when Leak was a freshman he went into Death Valley and beat the eventual 2003 National Champs. We had a senior running back next to him all day to tell him what the play was and what to watch out for. The key was that LSU scored one TD by a punt return, and that was it all day. So as always, it is the defense that is the key, not the QB.
I'm not sure Zookings have much weight in formal debates.

USC hasn't lost a non-conference regular-season game since 2002.

OSU hasn't lost a home OOC game since 2005. Do those 3 years really matter? Well to me they do... We did win a title in that span.... And btw if the trend continues USC won't be title hunting next year either... they will be losing to OSU...(Oregon State Univ).

45-17

USC O-Line dominates, Pryor is kept in check by disciplined LBers, and the secondary wreaks havoc on Pryor's throws deep and across the middle.

Pryor with 3 picks, USC with 200+ rushing yards, and 200+ passing. Blows open in the 3rd quarter.

45 points? We given up that many points in The Shoe only once ever (58 to Michigan in Nov 1946). And only four other times have teams cracked 40 there (Wisconsin 42, Illinois 42, Purdue 41, Washington 40). Note that only one out-of-conference team has ever scored 40+ points on us in The Shoe, ever. Out of the 500+ games played in Ohio Stadium (aka "The Shoe" to the rest of the nation), only five times have opponents cracked 40 points, and only once has it been 45 or more. No fucking way that any true freshman QB in only his second career start comes into town and pulls a once-in-500 game.

where this game gets foggy for me is the offensive lines.... When we talk about the best defense I believe OSU gets the advantage, however when we talk the best match up I think USC's defensive line will have greater success than our defensive line. It pains me to say it but I just don't think we can over come the difference in experience/talent between olines.

It'll be close early but will be taken over by USC late in the 2nd half. I think the score will not indicate how good of a game it'll be though. Something like 35-24 with two straight USC scores in the 4th quarter. I just don't like our chances concerning our offensive line going against their defense.

I'd bet money that one of their TD's will be a toss sweep from about 20 yards out. We couldn't stop it last year and it scares me to death thinking about that play this year.

The xfactor of course is Pryor. If our guy can negate the pressure by USC by using his legs more than he ever has I like our chances. Pryor though is making too much of an effort to be a pocket passer sometimes and to have success in this game he's got to take off more. If Pryor goes for 75+ yards rushing I think we can take this one.

I realize our dline is better than last years (atleast we think it is) but their oline is better as well considering all of them are back. If we win the battle against their Oline and Pryor has his best game yet I think we win. However, if they run for 150+ yards, and Pryor only combines for 200 yards of offense we won't.

We always asked for this chance. A shot at one of these teams on our own turf. These losses in big games have been on the road, at the Coliseum, vs. LSU at the Sugar Bowl, and in Arizona vs. Florida.

For once they get to come into the Horseshoe. We aren't getting that respect anymore. The mass media has written us off before this game has even started and annointed Barkley Tim Tebow v2.0. (Last week coming back from commercial on Sportscenter, they put up a picture of Barkley and said, "Barkley for Heisman?", before moving on to a completely different story. That was it.)

Anyway, I'm rambling, we've got a new group of exciting talent waiting to explode. And the fans are going to be insane, even if some of the build up around town has been underwhelming. For once, I'm not afraid we'll lose this game. I just see it as an exciting opportunity for the Buckeyes and am looking forward to screaming all night long in the Shoe.

Great point. To be honest, all 3 could be seen as trap or land mine games. Going into the homes of LSU and USC(without arguably our best player), and being in the media trance in 2006(SI cover "The Best. Period.") against Florida(and our arguably best player gets knocked out play one). This is the opportunity we all have really wanted. One of those losses to walk to our door and give us one chance here. We all know UF and LSU aren't going to be coming here so this is that chance. Let's slam the door on those chapters of history, and give USC it's "land-mine" game. I almost can hear it now...."But if Barkley wasn't a Freshman....etc etc"

GO BUCKS!!!!
