ill ask again

what exactly has USC proven?

they beat on a bad San Jose State team, and heck it took them 1 1/2 quarters to score on a bad team, then san jose state got discouraged and pretty much gave up

flip week 1 games and Ohio State smashes San Jose State and IMO Navy does pretty much the same thing to USC

Don't you mean Virginia?

You could ask the same of Ohio State.

But be honest with yourself -- USC has proven itself more consistently than probably any other program since 2002.

Obviously this is a new year, a new game, a new location, etc. But it's not like USC and Ohio State just collected a random set of guys to play against each other and that there's no history there.

im not talking about "since 2002" though

im talking about this year

and as far as im concerned, neither team has proven anything and saturdays game can go anyway

its kind of asinine to expect a true freshman QB not to be rattled on the road in front of 100,000 strong, if Barkley is forced to throw USC is in trouble

on the flip side if Ohio State's defense cant stop the run it is going to force Ohio State's offense to step it up and get some sustained drives going to get the defense some rest, if Tressel comes out with a ultra conservative gameplan its not going to be pretty

I think we'll prefer to lose to USC with an aggressive game plan on offense that may make us lose by 14-21 points or win by 14-21 points, rather than trying to play some "Tresselball" against USC and eventually lose by 7-10 points.

All I can say is that I hope Pryor will look to make some great plays with his legs for 5-7 yards, if USC chose to defend the pass, rather than trying to force some deep balls that may be picked off.

Matt Barkley may have plenty of experience playing in front of many people in high stakes games so I think he will be quite confident in the Shoe. Ohio State has to be able to get some pressure on him or they will be in for a long night. Let's hope that the defensive line can get through, rather than being shoved back every time.

Here's to this Saturday that Ohio State can try to redeem themselves and be the first team outside of Pac 10 to hand USC's first loss with Pete Carrol.

They have proven that they repeatedly win big games. They do, however, inexplicabley lose one game a year that they should not.

But in big games against big opponents, they perform very, very well. And this is year after year.

Hence the rep.

Damn straight. All due respect, forget Tressel ball, and let 'em loose.

Man, I'm so pumped for this game.
To all of you going, first off, I am incredibly jealous. Second off, and I might say this every day until the game.. Be loud, but more importantly, do what you can to make sure your whole section is loud. Nighttime at the Shoe is worth a whole lotta points.
We will surprise a whole lot of people Saturday.

s not

Losing this game is not a killer for the team, only for fans with unrealistic goals. Only Coleman and Pryor could be considered top ten at their position. This year is about building something for the future. Let this team grow and develop their own identity. Jenkins wells JL are all gone this is a new team.

I will give you these two things:
1. USC has proven to be the best team when it plays its A game
2. USC has proven to have 1 or 2 absolute duds per season.

If USC has a dud against Ohio State, it will be a 20+ point loss. After all, Ohio State is substantially better than Oregon State, Oregon, or Stanford.

Conversely, if USC plays its A game, it will beat OSU >10 points regardless of how great OSU plays.

my money: heart says OSU 28, USC 26
head says: USC 41 OSU 21

Exactly. We need the stadium to be deathly loud. No one should have their voice on Sunday.

Take heart Buckeyes! This is exactly the kind of situation that Tressel thrives in. Being a underdog in our own house. Disrespected by the entire country. Hearing for months how we suck. USC the greatest team ever, again. We don't have a chance, blah, blah, blah.
I expect a maximim effort from this team with no quite. They will make us proud on national tv. That's all we could ask of these kids.

I'll be convinced he's confident with his performance in his first game in a hostile environment. Not saying he will do bad, Terrelle Pryor stayed composed in his first road game against Wisconsin.

Still shaping up to be a good game. Excited to see what Duron Carter can do against the USC D. And what's the status on Jaamal Berry?
