Sound Off !!! - Introduce Yourself

Yes, I have to admit that is a strike against me. While getting married on Labor Day weekend has the advantage of affording me a 3 day weekend around my anniversary every year, it IS alarming that I would marry on a day where OSU was in a mighty gridiron struggle with a powerful, and tasty, dinner item.

The other bad side of this is that every year around our anniversary we go on vacation. The wife and I go up to Conn. to do some gambling (Mohegan Sun), go to NYC and walk around, up to Boston (for the driving lessons) and such... Last year, during the SDSU game I was certain my "live game" streak would come to an end... but, good news... here I am, dressed in my Red #7 jersey, running around bumfuck Conn. looking for a bar with the game on... as luck would have it, I found such a bar... I got more than a couple of comments from the locals...... This year I worry I won't be as lucky, so I have dicussed moving our vacation to OSU's bye week... the wife is less than accomodating at these early stages of negotiation.

My name's Brian, I'm 20, 21 in September, and I've been a Buckeye since the day I was born. I've lived my whole life in Fostoria, a hardcore football town, but too many scUM fans to be able to stand it. One of my earliest Buckeye memories is the second half comeback against LSU at Ohio Stadium, (Sorry I was so young I forget the exact date but I'm sure you know what game I mean). I'm glad to be on board and let's all look forward to a good season.

Go Bucks.

I also got married on a football Saturday. In 2002, there were no bye weeks, and we wanted a fall wedding, so my wife (also an OSU alum) and I chose the Cincinnati game. After all, it was a road game, and it wasn't going to be close anyway.

(In our defense, we *did* have the DJ announce the final score and play Buckeye Battle Cry at the reception when the game mercifully ended and we could stop getting updates from people's cell phones)

My name's Todd, and I grew up in Westerville, Ohio. I went to John Carroll and Kent State, where I met my wife. I moved to Pittsburgh to be with her, and got married this past March. I would love to move home, but I don't see it happening (hence my name, stuckinPitt).

I've always been a Buckeye, however, my love grew during the mid 90s, and I became a diehard as soon as I moved away from home and lived in the dorms. Afterall, watching my Bucks was the closest to home that I get on cool autumn Saturdays.

I can't wait for the season to start...I'm planning on buying a HDTV for this coming season, to get the full feel every time I watch a game.

GO BUCKS!!!

I don't know how you and your wedding guests handled that one, considering how it played out. I would have been going nuts.

DJ - "And now, if we could have the bride and groom on the floor for their first dance..."

Wife - "Dear, come on, lets go... Hun.... Hello?!?!?!?"

Me - Glued to my cell phone/radio/miniTV "Huh? What? Sure. Have fun. Just leave me a check for some pizza."

Haha, yeah my dad was late to his own wedding reception because the Bucks were playing UCLA. Now every Anniversary my dad being a smartass tells my mom it's been that many years since OSU beat UCLA instead of how many years he's been married.

Kind of a funny story, the only man I know that's a bigger Buckeye fan than myself.

Fortunately, we didn't have frequent enough updates to completely go nuts. We did have the game on the radio in the car driving from the wedding to the reception, and we took the lead in the third quarter. We kinda figured, "OK, we've got the game under control now".

Then, we got updates from our brother-in-law's cell phone during the reception. He'd come up to the head table during dinner and fill us in if anything changed. The game ended before dinner ended, so we were able to enjoy all the "scheduled" parts of the reception without needing updates. I never realized *how* close we were to losing at the end until I bought the season highlights DVD after the Fiesta bowl.

Almost as entertaining was our realization that we could wake up on Saturday and watch college football at 6 AM on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Unfortunately, OSU-Indiana wasn't a national broadcast for some reason. :)

Hi, my name Is Tall,

I am a Buckeye fan from Newark, Ohio.
The first game I went to was Kern and Co vs Pudue !
My favotite players are: Archie, Pete Johnson, Brian Bashnagle, Eddie, Kern, Germaine, and Tatum.
Before that, I used to listen to the Bucks when Jimmy Crum called the games that Lucas and the rest played in the 60's.

I now live in the SF Bay area .... and try to go to a game every year.

I look foreward to the Orange Bowl this year. See ya there.
