It's not quite as bad as the people you see on that show but it's definitely heading that way. You can at least walk around in his house and there's nothing inside that poses a health risk. A lot of the stuff belonged to his ex-girlfriend that passed away last year. It really came back to bite him a few years ago. During the housing bubble he came into possession of a property from an elderly lady he'd been helping out for about ten years. Her neighbors offered him $200,000 cash for the place but he refused it because he wanted to use her place as extra storage. Now he wants to sell it and he can't even get close to half for it.OCBuckWife;1934638; said:That is exactly what every person on the show mentioned below says. You might want to show him some episodes. It can turn into a very serious mental health issue for him and the rest of the family.
Me too. It's a heartbreaking problem.

He's gotten rid of a lot of her stuff, he's been having lots of yard sales and he even donated all of her clothes to Goodwill. She was one of those people that was addicted to buying stuff from informercials, magic bullets, George Forman grills, she had it all.OCBuckWife;1935218; said:Yes, that kind of trauma is exactly what can trigger the hoarding. First it's "save her stuff, can't stand to get rid of it, it hurts too much." and then it morphs into keeping more and more and it gets out of hand extremely easily. He's not there yet, but he's getting there. Access to a place to store it just makes it easier to keep more and more until suddenly he's stacking it up and living in a maze. Catch it early if you can. Those shows are extreme versions, don't wait until he becomes extreme.

little giant? i have the generic (and larger) equivalent. good ass product, i mocked it before i tired it. that being said they are heavy as hell, i still have no idea how the 85 year old lady slings it around on the infomercial...DubCoffman62;1932442; said:I think that I may have related on here a few times that my father is a bit of an eccentric.
