Some BCS facts for your SEC friends

Yeah, Steve. With only a week or so to get used to the strange seventy degree weather and four headed 12 foot tall inhabitants, I could see why your guys would get all discombobulated:shake: And anyway, I see your point that none of your recruits to have ever been to all star games and camps or anything, I guess....

I think I'm with Steve on this one Gator. After a month and a half of catching and throwing frozen footballs in 20 mph winds, you do need to readjust to the environment.

Often times, I think the lack of speed perception, is a direct result of the football that has to be played in Big 10 weather.

You just naturally play slower in 30 degree weather and passing based offenses get eaten up come mid/late November.

Honest question...you guys don't have indoor practice facilities in God's Country?

Look at the locations where all those Big 10 - SEC games were played. With the exception of last year's game in Arizona, all of them are played in SEC states. What's the normal factor for home field advantage used by Vegas? 3 to 6 points I believe.

Plug that in and the Big 10 has more than held it's own.

We absolutely do. I'm speaking in more general terms, than just this championship game being held in a dome.

If you watched the Michigan vs OSU game this year, I thought both teams looked pretty slow. Then I considered what playing in a 35 degree freezing rain can do to teams.

I don't think it's coicidence Todd Boeckman's struggles began during the coldest day in Columbus, and continued through the Michigan game.

But your point about indoor facilities and having a week to readjust is well taken.

Well, it would be very nice to see the SEC ladies travel north.

Actually, let's be honest about something. There's a reason why you guys don't travel north.

Not if all of the lovely buckeye ladies that post on here are any example :banger:

You're all alone now on this one Stevie:biggrin:

Actually, I was referring to the SEC football teams who refuse to come north and play us! :pirate1:

Gatorubet, never ever count a marketing professor down and out in a sticky situation. :slappy:

No Disrespect to the Buckeyes but you could have won that game.

I am a gator do or die. I thought you could have won that game on talent, but your coach way underutilized your running back who was moving the ball every time he touched it. He insisted on throwing agains the toughest secondaries in the NCAA. LSU faced a lot of tough teams. 9 SEC teams made bowl games and only 2 lost thus far. (Gators being one.) They face serious competition from top ranked teams all year. Your conference needs a bowl championship if for nothing else to keep them sharp. The talent is there but without Michigan being a tough team there really are not many tough games to prepare your team. OSU surely does have all the talent needed to win against any team, but I don't think they have been challenged to anywhere near their true abilty all year. Only 1 team faced this year finished in the top 20 and that resulted in a loss.

Anyway, I don't particularly like LSU because of bad experiences by extremely rude fans so in a way I would have liked you to win. That's just an outsiders opinion for what its worth. Not intended to offend anyone in any way.

I thought I'd revisit this now. I've updated all the data through the Bowls of the 2007 season. After 10 years of data people can pretty clearly see the deal.

The B10 holds its own, the SEC doesn't own us to the degree the media makes it out but its not that far from the truth. You just can't have your bell cow school be 0-9 and expect any respect whatsoever. Its time to just take whatever they say about us and move on, don't talk-dont argue, untill the players and coaches do it on the field there is nothing else to say.

Since the inception of the BCS system in 1998 B10 vs SEC head to head:

Overall: SEC 19 B10 17
SEC Home team: SEC 4 B10 O
B10 Home team: B10 3 SEC 2
Bowl Games: B10 14 SEC 13
# of winning Bowl seasons: B10 5 SEC 3 (2 ties)
Total combined scores of all Bowl games: 691-717
When B10 is higher ranked team: 6-7
When SEC is higher ranked team: B10 5 SEC 6
When both unranked or same rank: B10 2 SEC 1
