And of course the story really has nothing to do with what the class was really just talking about. And you can tell even the Prof. is thinking what the hell is this person talking about.

Do you have a personal story about that which you can share? :wink2:

Seriously though, the coverage of these fires provides riveting and, literally, awesome viewing. The scale of the fires now underway is unprecendented. These things are measured in hundreds of square miles. Think in terms of the entire surface of Hocking county being up in flames.

The impact of the fires is now getting mention on the sports channels, because it will likely affect the San Diego Chargers ability to practice and play in their home stadium. Already, 40 players are evacuated.

The San Diego Chargers will uproot their practices to Arizona starting Wednesday as the wildfires ravaging Southern California forced about 40 of the team's players, coaches and personnel, including star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, to evacuate their homes.

Citing the "poor air quality created by local wildfires," a Chargers spokesman said the team would use the Arizona Cardinals' practice facility in Tempe, Ariz., through Friday, and decide this week whether it would be able to play the Houston Texans as scheduled Sunday afternoon at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium. The stadium is being used as a fire evacuation center.

Hopefully there is a better solution to the game location issue, the example being cited is that of the Saints & Giants post-Katrina.

Those living in the east have not seen first hand what these fires look like!
We're talking hundred foot flames! Walls of fire. Sky filled with blowing, hot
cinders.
Amazing stuff that dwarfs a "fiery crash"!

It is rather like a game of SimCity gone bad. Expand into countryside near the forests, outgrowing fire and emergency services.

BTW, do you feel the same way about flood and hurricane wind damage victims in Florida?

Well according to the Government, wildfires are a threat in almost every region. Florida has big ones pop up quite often to actually, so those on the east coast have them to

Natural Hazards - Wildfires

Wildfires are a growing natural hazard in most regions of the United States, posing a threat to life and property, particularly where native ecosystems meet developed areas.

Will politicians say that people shouldn't live in those areas and that the whole area needs to be left unpopulated? of course not. Gee, what's the difference between these people and the Katrina people. eh, never mind. :roll1:
