So. California Burning to the Ground-Again!

I just hope no more scuba divers get scooped out of the water and accidently dropped on the fires. :wink2:

For the Malibu fire I watched (on the news) one of those tanker planes fly low over the ocean, toward the shore, scooping up water along the way. Pretty damn impressive flying!

We get wild fires here all the time(high desert). And helicopters fly down into the Rio Grande Gorge(600ft deep) to get water. :tongue2:

One of the problems they are having right now is the wind is so crazy that the conditions make it difficult, near impossible, to drop water on the messes. They seem to have the fire near me at about 50% containment now so for now it's just smelly.

San Diego is pretty fucked right now, they need firefighters from other the counties surrounding them to help but on one side they have US, and on the other side they have Mexico :( Apparently they are trying to get assistance from Nevada and Arizona.

Those fires look nasty, I wouldn't wanht ot be out there fighting them in those excessive winds.

Yet another reason firemen need paid more.

I'm a volunteer and that is one fire that I would not want to mess with.
Just glad to hear you guys are ok - can't believe how bad this thing is. Supposed to fly to LA tonight for work, though I guess nothing is too close to LA County, right?
Definitely call your airline. Power went out at the Orange County airport today.

Power is out at John Wayne Airport this afternoon and travelers are stuck without lights, flights and any direction. "Sheriffs are just walking around aimlessly," said Shelly Roberts, who was waiting for a flight to Las Vegas. Power went out at about 2 p.m. and there have been no announcements for passengers and staff appears confused, Roberts said.--2:25 p.m.

Here's a streaming link for LAX airport conditions

In 2003 we had a wild fire on the Taos Pueblo.

The Encebado Fire was 5,400-acre wildfire that once threatened Taos Pueblo, sparked by lightning, had been burning on pueblo land since July 4. Rehabilitation work already had begun in the burned area, with water bars in place to keep erosion down on the lines cut by hand and by bulldozer to halt the fire's advance. The Encebado Fire's smoke drifting into parts of Santa Fe, Espanola, Cundiyo, Cordova and Tesuque. More than 1,000 firefighters and other personnel had been assigned to the fire, which burned in northern New Mexico about 50 miles south of the Colorado state line. Taos Canyon, home to nearly 400 families, lies to the south while the Rio Pueblo watershed, source of Taos Pueblo's sacred waters, is to the northeast. Taos Pueblo, which has been closed to the public throughout the fire, postponed its annual pow wow this weekend because of the fire, which sent up smoke visible throughout the Taos Valley as it burned through islands of dry vegetation within the fire lines.

But Thump it was the Neo Cons fault, he has to get the truth out somehow.

He reminds of that annoying person that everyone has in their grad school classes that has to share personal info. about every topic that is ever discussed.
