In Virginia, there was apparently an alarm sensor that went off to cancel school the second a snowflake touched ground. I remember being out in shorts in 70-degree weather a few times when there was no school due to the miracle of "ice on the back roads."

I love Columbus Public Schools. The last couple of years ago we have had cancelled school days. But is wasn't because of snow, it was so cold out that our age-old buses wouldn't start. As a matter of a fact, the last time we had a no-school day because of snow was when I was in the 4th grade...6 years ago.

I laugh when other districts cancel school because of fog.:slappy:.....Then I realize that we have to go and they don't.:sob:

What are you talking about? Do you not remember all the snow and ice last year? Or the snow last year? There is no way that for the last six years that all the "snow" days you have had are because all the buses wouldn't start.

And I have never heard of a school being cancelled because of the fog. At the most it is a one or two hour delay.

Next story please

Actually only 3 of the last 6 years have we got off at least one day.

No days off 1999-2002

1 Day off in 2003-2004(I'm sorry, I forgot, this was for snow)

2 Days off in 2004-2005(Becuase of buses wouldn't start)

1 Day off in 2005-2006(Partial, 17 schools closed because of no power)

You actually want us to believe that school was called off because "buses wouldn't start"? All of them? :smash:

Listen, it's time to stop this TG05...You are going to find yourself banned again at this rate. You need to go back to the "playing it safe" strategy you were using after your last banning.

No, not all of them. But enough not to be able to bus everyone.

Of the 60,000 kids in CPS, 30,000 are bused everyday.

Anywhere from 1-5 inches here tonight. Gotta love the wide range the forecasters give here. I think we have had about 20 inches of snow so far this year. The snow does not bother me as much as the longgggg winters.

HA HA, YOU SUCK!!

We only got 2.5 inches so far... of course Lansing doesn't start plowing 'till there's 4 inches on the road surface (yes, that's the official policy), so it took me an hour to get to the lab tonight. Which kinda sucked.

Snowy Lansing...

Ok, technically, it's Grand Ledge. Close enough, though. Stupid Imageshack... had to shrink these down and decrease the (less than stellar to start with) quality.

This is what boredom and fresh snow do to weirdos like me. Oh, if anyone wants the full-res copies, just PM me and I'll set 'er up --some of them are up to about 2.5 MB :)

Well, once again, the locals predicted snow and we end up with nothing. Freezing rain all night here.

Countless times the local TV guys talk about how much snow we're gonna get and we end up with bubkis. Worst was about the year 2000 when they predicted 8" of snow, and it didnt' do anything... not even rain.

Isn't somebody in your household accustomed to being promised several inches, and then getting much less?
