Classic case of the boy who wasn't allowed to major in History trying to overcompensate and sound educated and well read. I'll wager anything that his only knowledge of Wallace is the god damned Mel Gibson movie. He did the same thing when he mentioned Solomon in relation to his stupid QB contest. The metaphor literally made no god damned sense in relation to what he was applying it to.

I would swear he used the "Field corn/houseplants" metaphor before, also. I remember making jokes about "don't be a houseplant".
