SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

It's been pretty clear all year that there were 0-1 top shelf teams. Georgia left it at 0 after the seccg.

The Heisman winner shouldn't have scored a touchdown in his last audition in the iron Bowl. He was given eighty mulligans, a lot of swallowed flags for grounding, and somehow squeaked out the first TD at the end of regulation.

Very, very flawed field this year.

OK, then given that they thoroughly beat the Buckeyes, what was Ohio State? How did Michigan State and Georgia make them look like frauds, but the rest of the Big Ten, including Iowa and Ohio State couldn't?
Nebraska absolutely did.
I get the sentiment against Michigan, but in an if-this-then-this world, you can't say "they were crap" without also inferring that the conference and the Buckeyes were crap.
The laziness of the human mind doesn't make the transitive property a reliable measuring stick.

OSU beat sparty by a billion. How'd that transitive property work out in ann arbor?

Georgia got drilled by Bama. They're favored in the rematch.

So did Rutgers.

The B1G was in the worst shape it's been in in many years. tOSU had simply grown complacent. Add complacency to a young team replacing many key pieces from the previous couple of seasons, plus a whiff at DC after your outstanding find in the role left suddenly after one year and you end up with a vulnerable team. TTUN had a veteran team with key pieces that finally stayed healthy. They still struggled with many teams they should have thumped. They finally caught a vulnerable Buckeye team on their own turf and best them for the first time in a decade. The B1G West was total garbage, so they faced no challenge in Indi.

All of the above along with years of historical data add up to this season being their golden goose. When they stepped out on the national stage, their luck ran dry and they got stomped. Chances that they return to their 8-5/9-4 norm next year are much greater than this season being a "coming out party." Especially with them likely losing both Hutchinson and Ojabo who were the tentpoles of a strong defense. Without them causing havoc off the edges, their defense is simply bad.

I have a firm belief that the Buckeyes will win in 2022, but that will only happen if the defense plays like a team full of four and five stars should play. In the meantime, when a team with "the best offensive line in the country" can only manage to rush for 67 yards against a fraud, when a defense anchored by a consensus All American gives up 297 yards of rushing, has zero sacks and few pressures, I think you have to conclude that Michigan was a better team than you are willing to admit.
You want stats? I'll give you stats....
  • 20 points scored (despite having a future 1st round QB)
  • 76 yards rushing (3.0 ypc) gained (despite having an All American OG and future All American RB)
  • 49 points, 539 total yards (7.5 per play) allowed (despite having 14 future draft picks on defense)
  • 168 yards rushing (7.0 ypc) allowed (despite having a future top-5 DE)
  • 378 yards passing (15.1 ypc) allowed (despite having a future top-5 CB)
All from an Ohio State team that beat #4 Michigan by 23 points, won the Big Ten, won the Rose Bowl, finished 13-1 and #3 in the final polls.

Flukes and frauds and anomalies happen all the time, especially in college football.

In 2018, Purdue finished the year with a 6-7 record and a loss to Eastern Michigan, but they just happened to have one fluke/fraud/anomaly 49-20 win over Ohio State.

In 2021, Michigan was able to string together nearly an entire season of flukes and frauds and anomalies before finally getting exposed in the playoffs.

You may think that I have to conclude that Michigan good team. I do not have to, and will not, conclude any such thing.

I hardly expected to change your mind, but they were good enough to beat Ohio State, a team that by your same standards, managed to escape Penn State, let Minnesota hang around until the very end, beat Nebraska by 9, and lost to Oregon.

I still can't fathom pulling McNamara when he did. There was zero chance they were coming back to win that game, so why create the discord in the locker room. Is Simple Jim so simple that he literally made the decision to nail Reno Jesus to the cross mid-game, spur of the moment? Because that's what he did, regardless of his spin this morning. There's no coming back from this. And if his single wing offense wasn't enough to make top QB prospects wary of him, how is this going to play?

I don't think many here would dispute that the Bucks were not a very good team this year. Certainly not by our lofty standards.

A Jimmah believer could say that he knew he would lose one of them, and decided to play McCarthy so he’s the one that comes back.

All he had to do is tell McCarthy Jumppass Jesus that he was the guy moving forward. Do it like a man in the office next week. He didn't need to humiliate Reno Jesus like that. Then again, thinking about the smack that Reno Jesus was spewing before The Game, fuck him. You hitched your ride to a moron coach and bought all in on his bullshit culture, so don't throw your little sideline temper tantrum when his moronic bullshit comes around to bite you in the ass.

I’ve been told that Asperger’s makes it difficult for the suffer to relate to other human beings on a social level. In some cases maybe the person can’t even function socially.

Not a shrink, so I’m not sure.

I hardly expected to change your anti-homer semi-trolling schtick, but Purdue was good enough to beat Ohio State by 29 points in 2018, so what exactly does looking at one game in isolation prove?
