Morris was already injured, had a bad ankle. And in the plays directly before he got concussed, he was clearly not anything close to 100%. Clapper left him in the game, immobile as he was, and to the amazement of the broadcast crew. Literally on the snap of the play in question the color commentator said "I know you want to get the guy some experience, it's only his second start, but.. it's a little dangerous"

Once Suga goes back in the game (Gardner lost his helmet on a play and had to come out, 3rd stringer Bellomy couldn't figure out how to work his helmet in time, I guess... and Hoke probably didn't know if he could call a time out or not (which would have allowed Gardner to go back in.. and.. by the way.. it was Minnesota 30, scUM 7 at the time, with 11 to go in the 4th.. which is to say, all but over)) color commentator is quite agitated at the ridiculous player management.

“There is nothing to mend,” Sherman said, via KNBR. “The bridge was burned down, torn down and built another bridge at another place, but the bridge in this particular relationship will never be rebuilt. I don’t think he is interested in it, and I’m not interested in it.”

Sherman signed with the 49ers in 2017, three years after Harbaugh left. Harbaugh’s former team and Sherman’s current team now is back in the Super Bowl.

Sherman couldn’t be happier about the way it’s turned out.

“They may put me in the dictionary next to ‘irony’ at some point after this story is written,” Sherman said, via ninersnation.com. “At the end of the day, I’m a football player. I’m here to help my team win. Whether it’s the San Francisco 49ers, or whoever I’m playing with. Jed [York] had a funny story about when I was coming out because they [San Francisco] had a higher draft grade on me than most teams, and Harbaugh came and took me off the draft board, and he was really upset about that.”

The fact that he wasn't explains the culture up there in a nutshell. They've spent so many years telling themselves that their shit doesn't stink and that they ALWAYS do things the perfectly right way that the administration simply couldn't cross the psychological Rubicon and see what everyone else in the country could see about their coach. I fucking guarantee you that if they were presented with a Tressel situation, they would NOT turn themselves into the NCAA like we did. They live in a bubble of their own bullshit and are blinded by the stink.

I have this fantasy that they take Jimbo off his meds, OSU beats them down again, and he snaps and lands an unprovoked and inconsequential punch on Day or an OSU player ... and they don't fire him. Even the DFBIA couldn't keep the bubble intact at that point.

They had a PR cluster duck for a couple of days after that game because the AD, the coach, and the medical staff weren't on the same page as to what happened, and what they should have been saying about it. That was when Pizza Boy Dave Brandon was the AD, and he actually resigned a few weeks after that, before the season ended.

I'm not trying to equate a concussion to the injury Shazier suffered. What I'm saying is that if I were a parent watching my son hobble around on one leg the way Shazier did throughout the fourth quarter of the 2011 Michigan game I'd be pissed. He could not run at anything approaching full speed, could not get off blocks, could not cover, yet he was asked to play because at 60% he was better than the LBs behind him.
