Can't run, can't stop the run, forced to throw more than they are comfortable with and then turn it over.

Lather, rinse, repeat
That is SimpLLLe Jim in a nutshell, going back to his SF days. He puckers in big games, and unless he has an overwhelming talent advantage, he will always struggle in pressure situations. He's hardwired to choke on his own vomit.

I'm going to repost this here, so that it might outlive the game thread because it is really mind bottling when you delve into it. They started coasting five minutes into the 2nd quarter. You would think that every single member of that team, particularly the seniors and juniors, would be foaming at the mouth like a serial killer to humiliate the team that has owned and humiliated them for so long. You'd think they would want to sweep that team's leg and deliver a beating so bad that JT Barrett would wake up in a pool of his own urine and sweat 40 years from now thinking about it.

But no, they decided it was time to coast. What a poorly coached and poorly motivated bunch of nutless prima donnas, and that starts with a poor coaching staff. If that is how that program and those players approach The Game, there is no amount of rap videos, sleepovers, trips to Katmandu, and shirtless tree climbs that will save it. They are doomed, and you know what?

Fill your players' heads with the idea that they really won when they lost, and they deserve things without working for them.....this is what you get.

Sounds to me exactly what we should have expected from these pricks. Entitled arrogance in the face of overwhelming facts to the contrary isn't just a trait of the fan base. Indeed, we should have seen this coming when they hired the quintessential "Michigan Man" Because, frankly, he is.

annnd it's just another area in which there is no distinction between Harbaugh and Hoke (other than salary).

That dumb, soft, clapping buffoon promoted the exact same sense of entitlement and baseless arrogance.

Funny thing is, the guy who actually attempted to modernize them was run out of town. Now, to be sure, Dick had his own shortcomings, but the reality of it is his teams were improving (record wise) even if he would probably have always struggled to beat Ohio State (I think at one point we thought he may be their Cooper) and I doubt he would have ever fielded a championship level defense. But, he did at least have a modern mindset. I mean, remember how AWED they were by Barwis? Like no other team had ever considered a strength and conditioning program that was more than a trumped up Lifetime Fitness Center? Ran that guy out of town ... to hire true "Michigan Men."

Well....

You got what you asked for, scUM.

First guy not from the family tree, as it were, in 50 some odd years and the host rejected the transplant from day 1.

Couple things Meyer does need to do considering the tsun QB can't get any worse in the coming years; get LB's that can cover and find a way to beat that damn FB dive for 1 guaranteed yard.

As was pointed out earlier in the thread - and the single fact that the dfbia is taking solace in - they are improving! They actually got to triple digits in rushing yards against us this year! 2018 the game is in Columbus......so 2019, baby! THAT's when Harbaugh's greatness will start to show!

It’s interesting to me to compare the Hoke brand of “Michigan Man” arrogance with Harbaugh’s version.

Hoke was more laid back and lazy- all you need to do is show up to be great because we’re Michigan.

Harbaugh is obviously more in your face with it. Three straight 3rd place division finishes and 1-5 against rivals? Who’s got it better than us!? We deserve to win and everyone knows it even when we don’t win because we’re special.

They’re different, but exactly the same- and most importantly, the results are the same.

In fairness, we rejected our own transplant from day one as well. But, we DID modernize the program as a result of him. Before Coop, we recruited regionally almost exclusively and we had coaches who would coach up otherwise marginal talent, whereas Coop took us national but couldn't coach his way out of a 1 man tent.

Point being, Ohio State was smart enough to actual learn something, evolve and improve. They, as should come as no surprise, long for the olden days... thinking "Hey, it worked in 1903 why shouldn't it work now?"

Accepting players from east coast schools who already ran out of eligibility really doesn’t work as well as it used to. Hell, they got caught and kicked out of the B1G for it from 1907 to 1916. Shockingly, following more focus on their blatant cheating, they haven’t matched the early successes.

It's parallel to Notre Dame in that just when you think the last guy was the absolute worst and they couldn't possibly go out and find a bigger fuck up, their administration says, "hold our beers."

They actually invented the concept of Lack Of Institutional Control. The Big Ten demanded that all schools' football programs be put under the control of the university President. Fielding Yost and Michigan refused to do so, and that's why they were kicked out. Kind of interesting to wonder how things would have played out had we taken Sparty then and never let them back in. I don't think they could have gone the Notre Dame route without the national Catholic angle.
